Acerca de esta escucha

The stunning sequel to Barbara Taylor Bradford's Cavendon Hall follows the Inghams' and the Swanns' journey from a family weekend in the summer of 1926 through the devastation of the Wall Street crash of 1929.

It all begins in July 1926 when, for the first time in years, the earl has planned a family weekend. As the family members come together, secrets, problems, joys, and sorrows are revealed. As old enemies come out of the shadows, and the Swanns' loyalty to the Inghams gets tested in ways none of them could have predicted, it's up to the Cavendon women to band together and bring their family into a new decade and a new way of life.

Would you listen to The Cavendon Women again? Why?

Yes, I love this series and have already listened to it multiple times . . . and would again. Each time I hear something that I missed the previous times.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Cavendon Women?

The marriage of Charles and Charlotte.

Which scene was your favorite?

Family gatherings around the dining table.

If you could rename The Cavendon Women, what would you call it?

I wouldn't rename it . . . the name is quite appropriate.

Any additional comments?

This is a captivating series and I hope BTB adds to it as she did with the equally wonderful Emma Harte series.

This was another stellar book by one of my favorite authors. The story was riveting as always with excellent character development and a wonderful conclusion! I can't wait to read The Cavendon Luck when it comes out in March of this year!

I was again taken into the Cavendon world from start to finish. The narrator is wonderful and the author never lets you down.

I love living in the Cavendon world :)

So many things wrong. Language in both the "upstairs " and "downstairs " out of period and probable education level, the author appears to think no one has any imagination or memory at all and has to reiterate details throughout the book " Lord Meldrew, her awful father", Clarissa, his estranged wife", just in case we forgot the first 3 references. Narration was awful. Apparently all women whispered and had little girl voices in the 20's.
Do not waste your time.

Just too trite

I’ve said before that Barbara Taylor Bradford’s books are hit and miss, and while I would not go as far as to say this book was a complete miss, it was far from being a hit.

Her books are light fare, not literary classics, and you have to approach them with the right attitude - I’d categorize it as a beach read. Don’t reach for this book if you want something deep and meaningful - it feels quite vacuous and there is little substance in the plots. In addition, it’s SOOOO tedious to read about what. everyone. is. wearing. all. the. time. GROAN… and was there any type of fabric in the 20s OTHER then Crêpe De Chine?? …and if incessant clothing tangents were not enough, we had to endure endless accessories tangents as well. VERY BORING!

Overall, I would have to say the story is good enough. If you’ve read Book 1 and are curious enough about the characters to know what they are up to 10 years later, then why not.

Good Enough... for Fluff
