Portland police detective Neil Ferguson uncovers a series of puzzling and threatening clues that lead to the identity of D.B. Cooper, the mysterious man who hijacked a plane and parachuted off with $200,000 in 1971. But when Ferguson delves deeper into a web of blackmail and murder, he realizes there may in fact be two D.B. Perhaps Sullivan wrote this with an Oregon audience in mind but as an Oregonian all the name dropping of places and people got old. The story is ok, although hard to follow at times, the narration and accents is uneven, and mentioning every single street, store, place by. name was too much. All fiction that quite quickly stereotypes Russians (as all being mob-related) and uses terms such as China Doll to describe the appearance of an Asian character.

Ok but place pandering and name dropping

This is one of my favorite Bill Sullivan novels. I read a lot of his non-fiction books before this and now I'm hooked on the fiction stories about Oregon. If you enjoyed this then I would recommend Oregon Variations. Keep up the great work, Bill and I hope to see ya at the fair this Summer!

I loved it.
