Acerca de esta escucha
Some say that true evil never dies, it merely lies dormant, awaiting the next opportunity to rise from its dark lair and visit itself upon humankind again.
Jack Hunger, a cop in Lee County, Florida, never gave it much thought. He purchased the 20-year-old Pentax K1000 camera at a perfectly respectable thrift store, and it was to be the beginning of a new hobby for the reclusive crime scene photographer.
The dismembered body of rookie cop Justin Sims and the bullet-riddled corpse of Russian Mafia killer Sergei Veselov are Jack Hunger's first subjects. The job seems to be just another brutal day at the office, until he develops the photographs taken with his new camera in his home darkroom.
As the images of the two corpses appear on the photographic paper, something dark awakens, setting into motion a terrifying chain of events that threatens to shatter the sanity of Jack Hunger and his friend, Sheriff Wayne Olsen.
Together, the two men are plunged into an intense race against time, forced to push their own fears and all logic aside. They must stop the darkness in its tracks before it escapes into the shadowy streets of an unsuspecting world.

Wealthy philanthropist Arthur Wells, in need of a family getaway with his wife, Joan, and his daughter, Emma, arranges a trip to Romania. His intention is to explore an ancient cave system he read about, located in Constanta, on the Black Sea coast. The name of the cave, unearthed in 1986, is Pestera Movile. It has been sealed from the light of day for over five-and-a-half million years, preserved beneath more than 20 meters of clay. In this harsh, chemosynthetic environment, Arthur stumbles across something he hopes will advance medical science.

The best part about a book that leaves you breathless and paranoid is putting it down, and saying at least that can’t happen in real life...until now. The Uninvited immediately will have you on the edge of your seat. This killer has no motive, no selection process. If there's a pulse, you are a viable candidate if you cross paths with them, you might not see another day! Smart, dark, twisted, and disturbing is The Uninvited.

One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

A twenty-one-year-old named Jack has dropped out of college, leaving his old life behind to build a new one in New York City. It is a world like our own in every respect, save one. In the 1950s, random acts of possession begin to occur. Ordinary men, women, and children are the targets of entities that seem to spring from the depths of the collective unconscious, pop-cultural avatars some call demons. As a boy, Del Pierce is possessed by the Hellion, an entity whose mischief-making can be deadly. With the help of Del's family and a caring psychiatrist, the demon is exorcised... or is it?

Not disappointed!
Once again one of my favorite authors has delivered a fantastic tale of an evil that will not die but is passed into a camera where it waits-it waits patiently. Evil will recognize evil and once unleashed we are taken on a trip that delves into the mouth of madness.
Eric Shelman has done it again with this extreme horror story and a must read/listen to if you are a fan.
As stated, I did both, I started reading it but when I could not sit to do so, I would listen to it and really could not decide which I like better. Either way it was a book I could not put down or turn off to the very end. A must have in your library if you are a fan, if you have not picked up Eric's books and like this type of genre, then this is a good start.
Looking forward to the next installment.

A funny, sick twist on walking dead horror
Where do I start with this review? I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but you need to know what you're getting yourself into.
1) This is a book about a haunted/possessed camera, walking corpses, and a couple of guys trying to save the world from evil.
2) It is extremely bloody and contains particularly descriptive scenes involving human cannibalism. Some parts I just had to fast-forward through because they were making me sick...and I'm not really that squeamish about such things.
3) This book goes against the unspoken rules of horror. Both pets and children die in this book, so if that's upsetting to you, don't read it.
4) The author did a fantastic job of narrating. He brought his characters to life through voice, which is not always the case with audio books.
5) If you can get past the blood and guts parts of it, it's a great listen. The action moves very quickly and you find yourself sucked into the story right along with our heroes. You will laugh, you might want to cry, you will definitely be disgusted at some point, but you will enjoy the ride.

The Camera: Bloodthirst
Any additional comments?
I was expecting more from the story especially since Scabs was so good. This story felt a little flat. I liked the beginning and the last third of the book. I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review.

Blood...and Lots of It!
Jack Hunger buys a camera at a thrift store to use in his job as a crime photographer. Little does he know the history of his latest purchase. It contains the soul of a killer. And the killer’s killer. So Jack is not prepared for what happens when he uses his new camera to photograph the scene of carnage when a mafia butcher named Sergei is taken down after escaping prison. But the butcher is not taken down fast enough and murders a rookie police officer before he himself is killed. So begins a tale of bloodthirst so powerful it may make a cop kill his own.
There is a little bit of zombie, a little bit of Frankenstein, a little bit cannibal, and a little bit of love story all mixed up in this story. I wasn’t quite prepared for all of the horror contained in this book, especially when it happens to children. But I liked it, I liked Jack, I liked the rookie cop, and I liked Hannah.
As usual, Eric Shelman did an excellent job on the narration. He sped up, slowed down, and spoke in just right tone at just the right time. His female voices don’t distract from the listen and his accents are very good. I enjoy listening to him and he has never disappointed!

Patient Zero on a new level.
Okay, so I have delved into the world created by Eric A. Shelman for the first time and now will be trekking deeper.
This little tale is a fun twist on the "zombie" genre. It gives you an actual genesis and patient zero. ES is not afraid to shock the reader, so go into this wearing a cup because he kicks low and will have you cursing him for daring to do so (in a good way).
No spoilers, but this will make you leery of classic cameras. In a short time, there are decently developed characters and a story line that pulls you along begging for you to finish this in one sitting.
My only criticism is that there did seem to be a chapter that repeated itself back to back early on. AT first I was thinking there would be some different take on an earlier scene, but then I realized that it was the same chapter piggy-backed. Story-wise...no complaints. A wonderful ride.

WOW
Would you listen to The Camera: Bloodthirst again? Why?
Yes. I usually relisten to all my audio books that I enjoyed. I find I pick up more background after listening to a book the second time around.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes! First, I never knew what this book was about. I normally dont listen to a book 'blind' but I did here. Not knowing what the book was about really put me on the edge because I had no idea where the story was going. The beginning of the book had me hooked in immediately.
What does Eric A. Shelman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Emotion. It was really different listening to an audio book narrated by the author. He knows where he is and whats coming so I found it interesting.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Im not writer but maybe, DONT say cheese.
Any additional comments?
Im a new listener of Eric Shelman. I am really enjoying the Dead Hunger Series. If you havent read his stuff yet, give it a try. You wont be disappointed.

very stressful to listen to
I was first exposed to Eric A. Shelman as a writer with the first Dead Hunger that I reviewed a couple years ago. This was an audiobook that I did not really care for, even though it was in my preferred genre. So of course I had some hesitation before I began listening to The Camera.
However, I always try to go into a new book with an open mind and as few expectations as possible. I am so glad that I was able to do that and that Shelman was willing to give me another chance to connect with his writing. Because this audiobook is pretty creepy and different. Starts off with a serial killer, for lack of a better term, abducting a woman in the dark morning hours and an amateur photographer. Other than being very stressful to listen to there was nothing that seemed special about this particular camera. It turns out that if the camera photographs a recently dead person, that person will come back to life. Not necessarily as a zombie, but a monster that has an insatiable hunger for flesh and calling to find their killer. That is all I am going to say about that.
Shelman was able to pull me in to his world were the dead walk the earth again. Full of all the violence, blood, gore, humor and disturbing scenes that make a good horror story. Because of this unique story line I am now looking forward to listening to more by Shelman.
These days I am very very weary of listening to an audiobook narrated by the author. Unless you are Neil Gaiman or a professional voice actor I would generally say don’t do it. I am very happy to report that Eric A. Shelman did a very good job with the narration of The Camera. He obviously understands what audiobook listeners are looking for, especially with a horror story. Good characterizations, he went all out while speaking as one of the “monsters”. While he could use some additional polish to make his performances really great. The main negative that I heard, now I could be mistaken. But it sounded like during some of the pauses Shelman was taking a drink off water or something. Because he would pause and when he started speaking again it sounded like there was still something in his though and the tone of his voice changed slightly.
