The weirdness of the DI
I dislike's the rambling, intimate, inner ramblings of inspector McCloud (sp?). I was so bored I listened but I never liked it. The narrator is good 🤷♀️but the dynamic is just strange

Great geography, interesting plot, unique DI
Truly enjoy John McNab, makes me feel like I am in Scotland. Also appreciate G R Jordan's approach to the quickly changing cultural norms. Having never heard of a Bothy, I did a search and was pleasantly surprised to learn something new. I found the third book in the series by clicking on G R Jordan's name. Hope audible continues to add the remaining books in this series.

Weirdly sexist - takes away from the writing
As the second book in this series, I thought maybe the overstated sexism would start to dissolve as the character adapts. Unfortunately, this book too has an unusual focus on sexist vision. All of the female characters are a sum of their physical appearance and all of the men are prisoners to constant sexual preoccupation. It seems like the writer has actual skill but the sexual obsession makes me feel like I'm listening to the musings of a dirty old man. Hearing the words in the the beautiful Scottish accent also gives the impression that Scottish people are brutish, vulgar people. I'll not continue to read this series.
