Bis sie Josh begegnet und er ihr in der womöglich dunkelsten Stunde ihres Lebens zur Hilfe eilt. Er bietet ihr einen Job und damit die Lösung für all ihre Probleme. Doch Josh ist gefährlich für ihr Herz, denn in seiner Gegenwart schlägt es viel zu schnell.
Josh hat ein Problem mit seinem Unternehmen, ihm laufen die Sekretärinnen davon. Er erstickt im Durcheinander aus Papieren und Terminen. Bei einer Wohltätigkeitsorganisation trifft er auf Harriet und als diese in Not gerät erwacht in ihm weit mehr als nur der Beschützerinstinkt. Die beiden landen zusammen im Bett und Josh will mehr als das. Harriet scheint perfekt für die Stelle an seiner Seite, beruflich wie privat. Da gibt es nur ein Problem, er war nicht ehrlich zu Harriet als er ihr den Job angeboten hat. Sie hat zugestimmt ohne zu wissen, wer er wirklich ist und dass er ihr Boss sein wird.
Als Harriet dies herausfindet ist sie zu tiefst verletzt. Zwei Wochen später hält sie einen positiven Schwangerschaftstest in ihren Händen. Etwas das sie sich immer gewünscht hat. Jedoch mit einem passendem Partner und der einzige Mann der als Vater in Frage kommt, ist der Mensch der ihr Herz erneut gebrochen hat.
