I love this series because it makes you think...also, the characters are interesting and the narration is fantastic. I'm really looking forward to the next book.

Incredible narration
Worth every cent.

Love this Series...and DS Cross!

Such a great series! I started with Book 1 and ended up spending the last 2 weeks listening to all the DS Cross books (Books 1, 3-7) available on Audible. Very interesting and amusing at times. Lots of twists and turns so keep you guessing. The main character, DS Cross is incredibly talented and is on the Asperger's Specrum so we get a look at what it is like for him to deal with a chaotic world and navigate social norms. The narration has been great and consistent through the entire series, Looking forward to Book 8, The Tailor. Highly recommend this series!

A Great Series Gets Even Better

Remarkable character development, astounding plots, marvelous humanity and outstanding narration. You’ve got to be kidding, there is little better than the DS Cross series.

Cross Grows Culinary

A good murder mystery plot. Plenty of red herrings. I did have my eye on one of the culprits. I did not feel much sympathy for the murderer, and even less for the murder victim.
For our favorite bulldog detective, there is some family drama — some sad turns and some happy realizations, plus a fun gathering of the gang celebrating a birthday. Glad to see McKenzie again. I liked the introduction of cooking / culinary efforts into the main characterization. DCI Carter comes in for some scorn again, which for some reason didn’t quite jive with how his role played out in The Teacher. This book addresses some unfinished business (Warner’s story) left dangling from The Teacher. This is not my favorite of the series, but nonetheless a solid hit! My personal preference: I always like to see the courtroom aspect of a case, and I always enjoy Cross’s interaction with any lazy detectives (e.g., Warner) or any of the big cheese, e.g., the Chief Constable.

Great protagonist

Clever story, accurate portrayal of a high functioning autistic person. All of the characters are interesting and enrich the story.

I’ve read (listened) to all of the DS Cross series, and the Bookseller was a great read. Unraveling the mystery of Ed Squires death is easy for George but family health issues threaten disruption of his neatly ordered life. Fab as always!

Another great one from this series

So good to be able to spend some time again with George and the gang. I love these books and the reader is perfect. Now I have to wait for the next one and I know that will take too long.

Different in a good way

DS George Cross and his partner (recently promoted) DI Josie Ottey become entangled in the bewildering murder of a relatively quiet bookseller at the longtime family business owned by the 90-year-old patriarch. The case and the characters steadily become more complex and the mystery more compelling. I thought it did OK as a standalone as this is the first DS Cross mystery I've read and enjoyed.

Cross is my fave

I love this character so much! I love all the characters honestly! All of Cross’ awkwardness makes him absolutely unique in my eyes! I listened to all the free ones and paid for the last two cause I just couldn’t stop!
