Captivating Yet Distracting

Unbelievable
This was a first-rate read about power, privilege, and corruption in Lexington KY. It boggles the mind how easily people can be brought to do evil things and rationalize their behaviors.

Long Winded For My Taste
Struggled to finish this title unfortunately. The overall story arc is interesting, but it is incredibly long winded. The final few chapters pick up a bit, but the ending left me feeling similarly as I did when I finished watching No Country For Old Men (the movie).

Excellent!!!
But then I was a student at the University of Kentucky while this was happening. I did not know then that it’s not just Kentucky involved in Government corruption. It’s at its worst on the national level. It was interesting to go back through this again after learning that the majority of our local, state, and national government is corrupt. The only irritation with this is the mispronunciation of Lexington roads, areas, etc and the portrayal of Lexintonians with a South Carolina accent. People that live in Lexington and from Eastern Or Southeastern KY do have an accent, but that’s not it…no offense. I still loved this. John Y Brown the forefather of Democratic Crooks!!

Eye opening
Well written investigative book. Eye opening in to the criminal world and political corruption in Kentucky and how far reaching and connected it was. Well narrated.

Great listen. Well written story
I had my doubts about this one. It seemed like it would be a dud but I gave it a go anyway. Great story and well written organized and performed. The fact that is true is wild. Interesting insights into KY justice, political and police systems. Connections to the Iran Contra affair and other interesting international intrigues are cited and others foreshowed. Very informative and entertaining. Learn the real truth about KFC and how Col Sanders got fleeced by John Y Brown.
