While Corelli and Parker search for leads, Kate Burke, the lesbian speaker of the city council, asks for an update on the investigation. Thinking Burke is playing politics, Corelli ignores the request. In the meantime, two more bodies are found, both laid out in the same way.

Pressured by the chief, Corelli goes to Kate's office, where a photograph of the speaker with a group of friends catches her eye. Corelli recognizes the three victims and, to her horror, three others. Suddenly the case becomes personal.

Fearing a serial killer is picking off the people in the photograph, fearing the next victim will be someone she loves, Corelli races to find the murderer before he kills again.

Loved this book

Wonderful follow up to book one. I enjoy this series as much as JD Robb’s In Death books. AbbyCraden and Susan Erickson are my favorite narrators.

Love this series

It's a refreshing change from the formulaic approach many follow. I really love the character development and the "mystery" aspect is intriguing.

Great Character Evolution And Well Written!

Enjoyed the evolution of the main characters in this series. Hopefully, the third book in this series will continue the relationship between partners being more trusting with each other. Also hoping the romance evolving with Chiara will continue. Fabulous narration with that superb tone!

Police Murder Mystery

More twists and turns on who is murdering LGBTQ people. Are they just hate crimes or something else.

Parker and Chiara are somewhat getting along better as partners in the job, but Chiara still baits her and can't understand why she does it.

While Chiara keeps trying to ignore them spark she and Brett have, even when apart for weeks, it won't go away. Brett is now longer going to let her get away, even if it takes a while for Chiara to be ready for a relationship with her.

This is a police procedural murder mystery and not a romance as of yet. Hopefully the next few books in the series with bring complete trust to Parker's and Chiara's relationship, as well as bring forth a romantic relationship with Brett and Chiara.

Now if Chiara could only admit to herself that she has PTSD, which she definitely does and gets some help for it, she might not be so explosive it have flashbacks at the wrong time.

Kept me on my toes..

With Abby Craden’s narration and a nail biting story, this was a pleasure to listen to.

Gripping series, but not quite five stars

Wish the author wouldn’t have her main character take some absurd risks. Or kill off some nice people for the sake of the plot. Or have so much combative dialogue between main character and her homicide detective-in-training. So even though fast paced, edge of seat, it’s ruining my escapism goal to have the story be so constantly stressful. I would prefer some relaxing interludes in my fiction - where the characters are respectful to each other and enjoying their lives. Maybe, it’s a New York thing that there’s so much yelling and conflict?

Another Excellent Book

Great storyline, well developed characters, excellent narration. Not your typical lesbian romance book which is refreshing.

Story was a little drawn-out but as usual still a very good listen love it as always.
