Classic Challenging Story

The story was worth listening to. It gives you a feel for the time period. The vocabulary and wording will stretch you.

Confusing story

Great narrator. Not Robert Louis Stevenson’s best story. I listened to this while walking and found the story confusing because there were so many characters with no background as to how they fit together.

Dashing Adventure and Chivalry

Stevenson is the master novelist. A romping adventure with wit that would make Shakespeare envious.

Decent story, decent narration.

Intriguing take on The War of the Roses. Mediocre storyline with obvious plot. Old English language is intriguing but difficult to comprehend.

The narrator makes this book I to a masterpiece. The story itself is not new but it’s a great pleasure to discover this author anew.

Ok but not Stevenson's best

Really dug the use of period language. The story, however was quite predictable. Not my favorite Stevenson.

Huge fan of RLS

What can I say, Stevenson's tales are always so complete, clever, interesting, even poetic. This is another example of his skill as a writer. The narrating, for me, was a solid B or B+.
