Acerca de esta escucha

One hundred years after a woman is hanged, the search for justice reveals a story of simple faith, obsession, and murder. In 1832, an 18-year-old Frankie Silver was charged with murdering her young husband. In 1833, she became the first woman in the state of North Carolina to be hanged for murder. But was she guilty? More than 100 later, Tennessee sheriff Spencer Arrowood is determined to reveal the truth behind this unanswered question.

The Ballad of Frankie Silver flawlessly weaves past and present, truth and fiction, folklore and legend in a spellbinding story that sweeps from the drawing rooms of early aristocracy to the ruins of a one-room cabin deep in the Appalachian wilderness...from a 19th-century courtroom and the infamous Hanging Oak of cold, bare room where a final jolt for modern justice is delivered.

I’ve bought and read the book and now listened to the audio book. I’m a Hugh Sharyn McCrumb fan. I especially love the stories with Nora Bonesteel in it, she’s my favourite character. Loved the back story of her in The Rosewood Coffin.

Loved it!

Like all of her books, this one pulls you into the story and brings the characters to life.

Well written and riveting retelling of Appalachian stories. Very relevant to our times. Excellent read!

Engrossing story!

Well written. I don't recommend this audio book to anyone driving or involved in an activity that requires primary attention. The progress through this book will be more appreciated with few distractions. however, I do recommend it.

Historical novel based on real events

This was actually a decent story but geez...the narration was awful! Instead of bringing the characters to life, the author (who narrated) was so dull and monotone that it was a struggle to finish. It was like being read to by the school librarian or a professor.

Ugh, the narration!

Narrator (Author) couldn't vocally differentiate between characters. I wasn't able to follow the storyline because I kept getting stuck on figuring out which character was speaking.
