After travelling with some of the most interesting and adventurous characters, an accident forced him to return to a similar poverty filled world back in England.

couldn't finish it
Kudos to the author for writing a character so believable that he pissed me off. The protagonist and his surroundings were created so well that I could find nothing redeemable about the main character. A selfish drunken thief, a lazy social parasite, refusing to better himself in the least. I used to think that this segment of the historical population were just down on their luck but they were only stealing ours.
