A Great Listen!
Story: A slow tension building romance with tender characters. The cast of growing community around the protagonists are wonderful and dynamic. They brought out the fun quirks of Cyrus and Remember. This isn't a typical slow-burn romance, but the drive to see how Cyrus and Remember finally come together keeps you needing to listen on. Jane gives light to the different types of trauma in a way that is not overly dramatized to make the reader uncomfortable, but also not under detailed so the reader can't sympathize and gain an understanding of the trials and difficulties that comes with trauma. It is a wonderful story of self acceptance and fighting on for a future one once thought lost to them.
Performance: A mature-like voice that gave personality to Cyrus and Cynthia (the narrator) used a more gentle tone for Remember, keeping the personalities easily separatable while listening. At times the narration pace was a bit quick. For my own preference, I slowed the playback speed to 0.5, making it easier to listen and not feel like I was missing details and words. (Note: slowing it down, did make the listening time double, but I didn't mind that at all, because I was enjoying spending more time with the characters Jane created).
