Acerca de esta escucha
In The ADHD Fix, father and son authors Dr. Henry and Joshua Svec discuss their professional and personal experience with ADHD, addressing myths and testifying to the underlying potential in every diagnosis.
Dr. Henry Svec has spent the past 20 years helping children and adults with ADHD achieve success by developing tools and strategies to overcome associated obstacles. The victories of his son Joshua vouch for the effectiveness of the strategies disclosed in this book, which includes a chapter dedicated to Joshua's experiences growing up with ADHD.
ADHD is a bit like the Niagara River: often out of control, unpredictable, and has a lot of energy. It's not until you see the hydro electric dam that you realize the gifts of that river.
The same can be said of ADHD; it's not until you break down the brick wall of trials and tribulations, that you discover that ADHD comes with its own unique gifts and doesn't have to be an impediment to success. With the right strategies, ADHD can be a pillar of strength and a fount of otherwise unknown abilities.

Drug therapies, our understanding of the role of diet and exercise, even the way we define the disorder, all are changing radically. And doctors are realizing that millions of adults suffer from this condition, though the vast majority of them remain undiagnosed and untreated.

Whether your child has only been recently diagnosed with ADHD or you’ve been living with their condition for quite a while, it’s normal for parents to feel worried, overwhelmed, and exhausted most of the time. However, keep in mind that ADHD is a condition, not a life sentence. It’s entirely possible for your young one to succeed because of their condition–not despite it. The key is learning how to address your child’s condition properly and consistently at the soonest time possible–the earlier you manage it, the higher their chances of success and happiness.

A veteran clinical psychologist exposes why doctors, teachers, and parents incorrectly diagnose healthy American children with serious psychiatric conditions. In recent years there has been an alarming rise in the number of American children and youth assigned a mental health diagnosis. Current data from the Centers for Disease Control reveal a 41 percent increase in rates of ADHD diagnoses over the past decade and a forty-fold spike in bipolar disorder diagnoses. Similarly, diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder has increased by 78 percent since 2002.

We see it everywhere: at the park, in restaurants, and inside our homes and cars - kids connected to handheld devices and disconnected from the world around them. According to the latest research, the average 13-year-old spends eight hours per day, seven days a week, glued to a screen. Yes, this is problematic, but for every problem there is a solution. In Disconnected, renowned psychotherapist and longtime school counselor Tom Kersting explores the device-dependent world our children live in and how it is impacting their mental and emotional well-being.
