I enjoyed as a standalone

I haven't yet read any of this series. However, having gotten this on a 2 for 1 sales I read it anyways. I enjoyed it for the most part. It did go at a very fast pace as far as the plot goes and I think there could have been a little more investment in the development in the relationship between Poppy and Harry. But, it wasn't a dealbreaker.The secondary characters were thoroughly enjoyable and I look forward to reading the others in the series. Especially the next one, as we were left with a cliffhanger about it!
Overall I was pleased. It was worth a 2/1 sale but I'm not sure it would be worth a full credit.

I LOVED this book.

I have not laughed as much while listening to a novel. It is a well written story with well developed characters. The romance is sweet and it left me feeling good and hopeful. I like both lead characters. This is the first book that I have heard from this series and I will surely be purchasing the others. The narrator was excellent. Amongst the best !

The best execution of grumpy-sunshine romance

After two lackluster books, here’s where the series won me back. Better humor, more time with the Hathaways, and one of my favorite romance tropes: the iceman and the sunny, precocious lady whose Pollyanna attitude thaws his heart.

“Even if you have a flaw here or there…”
“Flaws?”
“I love those best of all.”
Also, excellent groveling and declarations of love after the big gallump realizes what he nearly lost.
Groundwork is laid for Beatrix’s and Leo’s HEAs for the next two books, making this my preferred starting point for the series. You won’t miss much skipping books 1 and 2, except a lot of Leo hitting rock bottom and an overemphasis on the Romany and superstitious mumbo jumbo.

Great story

Loved the narrator, the story line had unexpected twists and turns. I laughed so hard at the animals in the story, the h/h had just the right amount of angst, the steam level was a 3, needed more romance. Overall a fantastic listen.

Always interesting with lots of interesting characters. I love books written by this author….a little spicy but excellent read!

Good

This book really pulls you in to the everyday life of the Main characters. You get all the feels, however as far as being hot and sexy, that’s a no. It’s more of a simmer. But I enjoyed it so much that I’m headed to the next in the series.

Poppy

This story had everything in. Love, betrayal, some sadness, and some funny parts. I truly enjoyed it.

Hilarious, witty, and entertaining!! I love the chemistry of the characters and the dynamics of the Hathaway tribe. Lisa Kleypas is by far one of my favorite authors and I am growing to enjoy R. Landor as well.
