TMI is the story of how Mario Lavandeira became Perez Hilton, a celebrity blogger with millions of readers around the globe who was sometimes called the Most Hated Man in Hollywood. Growing up in Miami’s Little Havana in the 1980s, Perez was bullied at school because of his weight and his sexual orientation, so he devoted all his free time to eating and watching TV in his bedroom. A scholarship to NYU was a lifesaver, as Perez felt at home in New York. But his finances took a battering, and he moved on to LA. After being fired from three different jobs within the space of 10 months, Perez suddenly hit it big in 2005 with his gossip blog. With Perez’s help, many promising young artists reached the masses - Katy Perry, Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Lady Gaga, to name just a few. Perez soon became a Hollywood insider, but during his dramatic fallout with Lady Gaga, he realized he had been used. Perez’s blog became increasingly mean - “It went from bitchy to nasty”, he recalls.

But a turning point came when Perez uploaded a video for the It Gets Better campaign and was surprised by the backlash it received. People called him a bully and a hypocrite because he previously outed gay celebrities on his blog. Perez was forced to reevaluate not only his alter ego, but also himself as a person. Following the birth of his son, he was also faced with a number of new opportunities for growth and personal reflection. TMI reveals the man behind the blog in a new, revealing, and still-juicy memoir.

fun and interesting!

I really enjoyed this! Very nostalgic to listen to some of those old hollywood headlines and hear about perez’s childhood and how his career began.

Exactly what u expect ot to be

It literally Is like He is Speaking to you Telling you his life story Not like he is reading from a book I enjoyed it I never knew much about him. he was Honest and Raw funny personal stories mixed woth tabloid headlines

Very transparent

I enjoyed his enthusiasm and vulnerability while reading this book. He even gets choked up talking about his dad. I got this book because I was curious about the story of this individual who has been so mean to people and wanted to see if there was an explanation or reasoning behind it. This book doesn’t provide any of that other than he liked the fame that came with his realness and hurtful approach. I will say that I appreciate his vulnerability to tell his story and apologize for the hurt he has caused. Everyone deserves a second chance. However it’s that thing called Karma after all those years of being nasty to people that’ll unfortunately follow you throughout your career.

I'm not sure why you can only give one star. I've been a huge fan of Perez ever since he started his blog. We are around the same age and I can relate to his story about growing out in the late eighties early nineties. It was really nice to learn more about the man behind the drama. I am amazed by his work ethic and he truly is a self made man. I love Perez And I appreciate how he interacts with his fans men will always give a like or respond to comments.

This was super interesting to read

As an avid consumer of the perez hilton website since I was a teen it is amazing for me to get to know the man behind the scenes, the kind and hardworking persona whom I feel like I grew up with

This was much better than I thought it would be! I really enjoyed this book and I’m glad I listened to it. I didn’t know anything about his upbringing or personal life and I felt as if I learned a lot.
