Excellent Book - Pleasantly Surprised

Where does Swimming at Night rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Swimming at Night is a wonderful book...A great tale of two sisters and the struggles that a sibling relationship can go through.

What about Fiona Hardingham’s performance did you like?

I love the way Fiona Hardingham pronounces words and her voice is extremely pleasant to listen to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

The end is worth the journey

The narrator is quite good although her "male" was a bit squeaky for me, but not so that I couldn't listen to the story.

The characters are very rich in detail and the journey shared by the sisters bittersweet. The end, oh my..............

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Bought this as a clearance hardback for co-worker's trip. She came back and gave it to me and said it was wonderful so of course I had to find it on audible. It was one I couldn't turn off.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

On the edge the entire time

What does Fiona Hardingham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved the personal relationship that occurred between the sisters even in death. How she was able to recreate her last days and to come to terms with her own life choices.

My fave author never disappoints. She paints an exciting location, twists, turns, and likeable characters

the title didn’t match however….

‘because of you i will drop my towel and swim into the ocean and kick my legs’ i screwed that up but that was the last line in the book. this is not my third book by this author in a row and I again am very pleasantly surprised. Now I won’t lie. I really did think Mia was going to be alive the whole time and so that was kind of a disappointment. However, I did see mia sleeping with Katie‘s fiancé in the very beginning when Mia was on the bathroom floor talking about shame and all that stuff. What I did not see coming was Katie and Finn being in a relationship even if it was only for four months, and what a selfless act of an older sister to break up with the boy that she loved just because it made her younger sister uncomfortable. I really enjoyed this book again. It was a good book. It had a lot of you know. Mental health quotes that did go a long way. I really liked again however every single thing came together at the end and with a nice big bow on it, I did not like Noah’s brother that whole thing kind of gave me the heebie-jeebies I won’t lie about that however, I did like the fact that Noah was trying to protect her in that moment, even if it did not go the correct way. I really liked the fact that she met Noah in that way, that was really sweet and kind. I do feel bad for Noah and his brother the fact that they lost their youngest brother Jacob and the oldest brother had to stay behind be the whipping boy essentially. I also kind of figured out that Katie and Mia didn’t have the same Dad just because of how everything was like put together during those flashbacks however what a difficult thing as a man to decide to raise another person‘s child even though it was his brother. I think this book had a lot of intricate details that all kind of weave and flowed into one another, and I really do like the fact that at the end that Noah was very honest with Finn and was very honest with Katie in the sense of you know this is what really happened? I was doing it to essentially protect myself. I do apologize however you know I still had to also fingers crossed that Katie and Finn get their happy ever after.

Meanders too much

Too much melodrama. This is an example of an author that has an idea. Opens with an interesting beginning and then fills the book with a lot of filler (because she doesn't have much to say) waiting to get to the end. You ever watch DWTS or Amer Idol on results show night? You watch an hour of filler waiting for the last 5 min to see who goes home. I was out walking listening to this book and started talking out loud saying "ok, let's move this along". There was a guy in his back yard, (while I was walking) he may have heard me. lol. This woman (in the book) arrived at the San Francisco airport and instead of the author saying she arrived, retrieved her luggage and left, she spent paragraph after paragraph (after paragraph) about all the folks in the airport, what they looked like, what their luggage looked like, how they might resemble their luggage, who they might be meeting at the airport, who looked like they were meeting their sister at the airport (this woman had just lost her sister) and what their greetings looked like. I mean! I could not. This book was making me irritable. I had to stop. I do not listen to books to get irritated. I could not finish this book.
