The best way to learn Swedish

"Swedish Short Stories for Beginners" is an essential tool for those who wish to visit Sweden, or even for those who want to take a first step in the language learning. Allows an increase in Swedish vocabulary and helps listeners to develop sentences. The stories are fun, allowing a quick and hassle-free learning.

Late beginner to early intermediate

Many of these titles promise you can jump in without any background but believing that pitch often leads to frustration.

Slowed down slightly, this would be a fun addition to build vocabulary and grammar skills quickly in a student who has studied some basics of Swedish spelling conventions, pronunciation, and has some grammar and vocabulary confidence.

Start in a rank beginner and you will have no clue what is being said, especially at full speed.

Sundberg is an excellent reader well suited to the material.

The greatest thing for me is the pdf that comes with it gives you the vocabulary lists and the stories. (Compare to the Olly Richards cash grab that requires the audio and ebook be purchased separately).

Swedish has three non-Latin letters, â, ö, and å and several other sounds based on compound consonants that do not exist in English. It’s important to learn about these to make the best use of audio material and increase written comprehension.

After you progress, audible has a surprising number of fiction titles including short stories which can be slowed down, and simple Swedish news sources online are always a good addition to your study, such as 8 SIDOR with its listen feature.

Intermediate level

I love the book overall, but no way this is for beginners. You will need at least an A2 level to understand the stories in writing, and no less than B2 to understand the audio version. I'm glad because most Swedish texts are too basic and it is great to find something with this level of difficulty, but an absolute beginner will be completely lost.

Nice and simple stories to get started

A superb way to get started on learning the Swedish language! Vocabulary words are the main tool in understanding a foreign language. This audible promotes learning by introducing words in a simple story which includes appendices for easy access, thus learning becomes a pleasant and enjoyable experience.
