Strum is an epic tale that crosses geography, time, and cultures. In 1950s Quebec, a deaf woodworker, Bernard Tenderfield, is drawn deep into the woods when he hears a lulling melody in his dreams. From there, the story moves back and forth, tracing Bernard's European and Iroquois bloodline through time with the magical allure of the instrument connecting his family. Strum spans two centuries, jumping from Canada to the French Alps to Southeast Asia and beyond, and introduces a gripping cast of characters who have moving tales to tell. Rich with beautiful imagery and thought-provoking symbolism, this debut novel will stay with listeners long after they finish the final minute.

Nancy Young’s delectable first novel
Strum, presented the age old quandary of the gift of a box of my favorite dark chocolate truffles: is it possible to pace myself and savor each individual chapter or in one glorious sitting will I devour the whole book?
Young guides us to a world in which we readers may experience walking between the notes of the enchanted protagonist, a guitar that plays itself. Taste the melodies, live the stories, hear the colors in a realm so intensely vivid that it exceeds reality.
A tightly woven tale whose enduring characters form the warp and courage that they bring to their challenges the woof. My only regret is that Young’s next book isn’t available on audible yet!

Strum
Strum was a great read; the music was in tune with the prose and a very nice enhancement for the listener's enjoyment. I recommend this book.
