Acerca de esta escucha

Everyone in Sugar Creek Gap has tried to fix up widow and beloved mail carrier Bernadette Davis on several dates. They say she has to be lonely.

What they don't know is how Bernadette's life is filled...filled with everyone's hidden secrets and obsessions. After all, she does deliver their mail and hears all the dirty laundry southern folks love to sweep secrets under the rug.

While on her route, Bernadette finds out the beloved Sugar Creek Gap Country Club is being sold and turned into condos. The developer is Bernadette's best friend, Mac Tabor, and right now he's not very popular.

The entire town is against the development and eager to vote it down, vowing they will do whatever needs to be done to stop the sell of the country club to Mac Tabor.

Chuck Shilling, majority owner of the country club, and Mac have a public fight because Chuck is rethinking of selling the club to Mac. When Chuck is found dead, Mac Tabor is the number one suspect.

Bernadette discovers she's got a penchant for discovering clues that just might help stamp out a killer who is on the loose while trying to save Mac Tabor from going to prison for a murder he didn't commit.

Surprise ending

I love Tonya Kappes’s stories.
This one had the typical cast of quirky & entertaining hometown characters with an unsuspected villain.
The ending leaves a small question mark and potential for her next story.

very good

Good plot, setting and characters. Always happy to find a cozy heroine who isn't an idiot. 😊

The narration is excellent. Nice voice , easy to distinguish who's speaking.

The narrator sounded bored.

I couldn’t finish the story, the story didn’t keep my interest. Ended up buying the 3-book series of Tonya Kappas’s Campers & Criminals series instead of listening to more of a free series.

It was ok

The story is short and a fast read. The Characters were ok except for Bernadette, who I find annoying whenever she hears Mac was keeping secrets from her through the towns people. The story didn’t have that many suspects so it was obvious who the killer was and the story ended quickly for my taste but overall it was ok and I will be reading the second book. The story did give me the video game called Lake vibes so I might be a little bias.

Liked the profession of main character.

I could not tell who was talking just from the voice. most audible readers make more of an effort to differentiate the voices. The cadence was kind of weird too. I was very hopeful at first with the lyrical southern drawl, but everyone make female young and old sounded the same. maybe I am just spoiled. I did enjoy the different employment of this character and the fact she was not attracted to the law. most cozy mysteries seem to go that route.

Going postal?

Although this first book in a new series wasn’t one of my favorites by this author, it did offer some appeal. The narrator wasn’t quite as good & sounding as smooth in the beginning, but she did seem to get better by book’s end. The storyline seemed a bit slow to develop but did contain some interesting twists. Small town, widowed mail carrier, a gentleman best friend of her husband trying to watch over her to keep her safe is accused of murder. Lots of kept secrets & colorful characters show promise for plots in future stories. The ending was a nice touch prodding me to follow up with book 2 to see how this series develops.

Didn’t care for the narrator

I didn’t understand her instantly, forgiving when he been holding a lie from her for so long to me that was immensely confusing. Continuing letting her mourn a cheating husband when he was supposedly was her good friend. Also crazy Otherwise, the cast of characters were good
