Acerca de esta escucha

A wild storm. A forgotten tragedy. A long hidden secret.

When a violent nor'wester hits Grand Cayman, a cargo ship is caught in the maelstrom, and several containers are lost to the ocean floor… unless AJ Bailey and Reg Moore can recover the precious contents belonging to Reg's wife, Pearl.

Eighty years in the past, at the height of World War II, an Air Transport Auxiliary pilot ferrying planes to RAF airfields in the southern coast of England, becomes the victim of a bold lie in a story missing from the history books. In present day, AJ and Reg search the dangerous depths, unaware that the clues to the long silenced coverup are held in the clutches of one of the containers… along with a more modern and immediate peril.

Drama in the skies of war torn England and a hazardous salvage operation in the Caribbean Sea come crashing together in another action packed AJ Bailey adventure tale.

Two suspenseful stories at the same time

As always we love the A J Bailey series. This one did not disappoint. Thank you for keeping your characters consistent, and keeping us looking forward to the next ‘page’. Adding historic and factual information and for those of us who are divers and familiar with many of your locations…well, we love looking up information and sharing within our group. Thank you again for another successful A J Bailey story.

Another amazing performance, books never disappoint.

Nothing about it . Loved the touches to tech diving and detail. The octopus was a bonus for sure

A Thrilling Dive into Danger and History

Spitfire Storm by Nicholas Harvey, narrated with brilliant nuance by Kim Bretton, is yet another triumph in the AJ Bailey series. Harvey continues to deliver the high-stakes adventure I’ve come to adore, weaving a tale that pulls you between present-day Caribbean depths and the wartime skies of England.

As always, the dual timelines feel like separate puzzles—until they spectacularly click together in a way that’s both satisfying and surprising. It’s a narrative technique I’ve loved in other AJ Bailey adventures like Half Moon Bay, and Harvey uses it masterfully here.

This time around, the modern-day story brings a fascinating twist. AJ and Reg’s salvage operation to recover Pearl’s precious cargo turns into a nail-biting race against time. But what makes it really stand out is the uneasy partnership with the man hunting down their own lost containers. The tension, the stakes, and the underwater peril create a dynamic that had me hooked from start to finish. I couldn’t help but marvel at AJ’s cleverness and grit as she navigates both the literal and figurative murky waters of this mission.

And then there are the historical scenes—wow! Harvey introduces us to a daring Air Transport Auxiliary pilot whose story unfolds against the backdrop of WWII England. This fearless female pilot is the kind of heroine I love hearing about, and Bretton’s narration captures her resilience and bravery so beautifully. Her journey is inspiring, and I couldn’t wait to see how her story connected to the present-day mystery.

If you’re a fan of adventurous tales with heart, history, and a touch of danger, Spitfire Storm is not to be missed. Harvey’s ability to balance thrilling action with emotional depth shines once again, and Bretton’s narration adds an extra layer of immersion to the experience. Dive into this one—you won’t regret it!
