Spend Daily Time with God

Spending daily time with God is to develop an intimate relationship with God. It’s about friendship rather than rules. The apostle Paul’s yearning captures the heart of the quiet time: “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death” (Philippians 3:10). Jeremiah covers similar ground in stating what the Lord says: “‘Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,’ declares the Lord” (Jeremiah 9:23, 24).

How often have I tried to enter my day without God’s presence and guiding hand? I’ve quickly realized that I lacked the strength and vitality, feeling irritated and directionless. I’ve learned from experience that I need to have a daily quiet time, to feed on God’s Word, receive the Spirit’s filling, and especially to know him more intimately.
