Zachary Stringer
Acerca de esta escucha
Roger Stringer grew up in rural Mississippi, hunting and eating everything from deer to rabbits. When he had two sons, Zac and Justin, he gave them guns and took them to the woods as well. Then one day when the boys were home alone, he got a call from Zac that Justin had been shot.
What follows is an intimate and gripping memoir about the shooting’s aftermath. The story moves between the perspectives of Roger and Zac as they take us through their journey of betrayal, redemption, and ultimately confrontation with a company that had kept its corruption a secret for decades.

Welcome to the summer of 1985 in Philadelphia, when the city was rocked—in almost every sense of the word—by two unprecedented events: Mayor W. Wilson Goode’s May 13 decision to bomb the headquarters of MOVE, a controversial Philadelphia-based radical communal organization, and the July 13 Live Aid concert, where international rock royalty convened in Philly to raise money for victims of the Ethiopian famine. Separated by just two months and eight miles, these events would showcase both the best and the worst of the so-called City of Brotherly Love.

Meet our heroine, Mo. She’s every dyke’s dream—or so she’s been told by her kind and supportive friends. She’s shy but passionate, politically aware, as committed to her egalitarian all-womyn’s softball team as she is to her volunteer work at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center. So why can’t she find a girlfriend? Could it possibly be because she’s more judgmental than Gertrude Stein and more self-sabotaging than Bojack Horseman?

Historia
You can’t truly understand the last decade of the 20th century without a look at the muddy, electrifying rock music that would come to define it: grunge. For such a short-lived genre—at least in the mainstream—grunge had a lasting impact on American music and culture. It also provides a unique lens through which to examine the post-Reagan, pre-internet America of the 1990s. In the six lectures of The Story of Grunge, you’ll explore the rise and evolution of the genre, tracing it from Seattle subculture to MTV and the Billboard charts, all the way to its decline and evolution into new forms.

In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

For his victims, for their families and for the investigators tasked with finding him, the senselessness and brutality of the Golden State Killer's acts were matched only by the powerlessness they felt at failing to uncover his identity. Then, on April 24, 2018, authorities arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo at his home in Citrus Heights, Calif., based on DNA evidence linked to the crimes. Amazingly, it seemed, evil finally had a name. Please note: This work contains descriptions of violent crime and sexual assault and may not be suitable for all listeners.

The very strange but nevertheless true story of the dark underbelly of a 1960s hippie utopia. Laurel Canyon in the 1960s and early 1970s was a magical place where a dizzying array of musical artists congregated to create much of the music that provided the soundtrack to those turbulent times. But there was a dark side to that scene as well. Many didn't make it out alive, and many of those deaths remain shrouded in mystery to this day.

The Journey for Truth
Said in a simple, beautiful and concise way this is a true story that will touch even the most frosty heart. It is a story we all need to hear. A story each of us will find a part to relate to, a part of ourselves that responds to the pain that this tale relates. It is also a caution. I don't want to elaborate anymore because that would end up spoiling the story line. The feelings produced should not be reduced by my review. So, I'm going to ask...something, I've never asked with regards to a book or a story and I'm going to request that you hear this one out.

Sad but helpful account
Possibly we will learn to listen better and refrain from uniformed judgments. Thank you for enlightening me on the gun regulation debacle and once again the sin of greed driving lawmakers. Blessings upon Zack, Roger and their families.

Powerful
The strength God provides is amazing! it is sad that a company couldn't see that life is worth more than the $0.05 per trigger it would cost to correct the problem!

Compelling story
An amazing story of forgiveness and love after a tragedy tears a family apart. The sincerity and honesty of father and son telling their story comes through every word.

Inspiring story
What a tragedy. I hope that the family recovers completely or at least finds solace knowing that their story will hopefully save others.

Shocked at how good this was
I do not like guns and have always felt like they should be banned. However listening to this riviting story so many of my pre consived bias were eradicated. I’m a city mouse- but learned so much about genuine compassion and forgiveness from these two. I literally could not stop listening as I listened to their plight and was humbled in a way that’s hard to put into words about my own bias and prejudices. This is an amazing story for anyone - they are relatable and really put themselves out there in a way that surprised me. I went in knowing nothing about their story and am glad I took the leap! Brilliantly done and heartfelt story that kept me on the edge of my car seat ( where I listen to audible)

Heartbreaking and Enlightening
Terrible things happen to people who have no ill intent. I think the lesson here is what do you do in response to tragedy when it shows up in your life.
Bravo Zach & Roger. Carry on and live well.

Big Bang for Your Buck (no pun intended 🤭)!
For such a short read, there’s a lot to unpack. The obvious story is the heartbreaking & preventable death of a child at the hands of his sibling. However, it gives one pause to think on how you feel about guns, legislation, accountability (especially for those with deep pockets), judging, the importance of our time spent with family & loved ones, and how to take the good from tragedy while allowing it to make us better people. Except whatever happened to the mother? She sort of vaporized despite reportedly always believing her son.
