Very Helpful!

Mark Frobose's Italian audiobooks are reasonably priced and are very useful. He has you speaking key words that would be necessary to communicate with people as you travel through Italy. Many courses overload your brain with words that as a tourist, aren't words that you would use in everyday conversation. I gave 5 stars for "story" because Mark explains the meaning of the words he has you listening to and repeating. He explains how they relate to the Italian culture. For instance, he explains the different meals, when they are eaten and what foods are eaten at each one. It's very different from the way our meals are structured here in the US. I am looking forward to traveling to Italy. I feel that the audiobooks in Mark's series will give me the confidence to speak with native Italians. If you're willing to put the effort into studying conversational Italian, this audiobook is a great place to start. It is extremely helpful and will save you time and money by focusing on essential words.

I HAVE listened to it again...and again...and again. And I'm not through YET.

The narrator begins the program by describing it as ‘survival Italian.’ It's “survival” in two ways. The first is in the portable design of the approach which makes learning to speak Italian easy while you're busily doing stuff and moving aroundThe second is that it teaches the things you need to know to get around.

Come on. Most people don’t have the time or the money for an extended stay in a foreign country. Most people are not going to live with a foreign family for weeks or months and learn all the things about the language and culture that they would learn over such a long period of time. Most of us do well to have a week or two of vacation in some faraway place. While we’re there we need to know about food and transportation and accommodations. Meet, greet, eat, sleep, and travel around. This Italian course seems to have all of that pretty much covered. Speaking of eating, how could you go to Italy and not savor some of the authentic Italian cuisine? The final segment of this smartphone audio program talks a lot about that very topic.

Like it or not, before long it’s time to board the plane and go back home. I think that if you spend some commuting or waiting hours with this highly portable and intensive Italian language program your Italian travel adventure will be more meaningful, while you’re there and after you get back home, than if you spend all of your time in Italy following a tour guide and letting other people translate everything for you. If you don’t at least try to communicate with the ‘natives’ while you’re on their turf, seeing their sites, and eating their food, you’re going to miss out on a lot of the fun. I know that learning the material that this program presents will amuse you during your down time at the gym, the dentist's office and in traffic, and will also turn a so-so Italy experience into a much, much better one.
