Along the way, they meet a wide, colorful variety of Alaskan types, including Charlie Blue, a Tlingit Indian, shaman, and seer; Norman Ormandy, the tough saloonkeeper of Gurry Bay; and Malec Mummad-Afi, a wealthy exiled Iranian oil king and sheep hunter.

Up to Alaska!

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this story when I first started, but after finishing it I can safely say that this is one of the best stories I ever heard, and hope that the author can come out with another tale just like it.

Great writing

The story feels like it was written long ago. The visuals, though sometimes disturbing to us squeamish types, make you feel like you are right there. Occasional insights into human nature are bonuses to this enjoyable, well-told story.

Easy enjoyable read

The book is mostly told from the point of view of the 2 main characters. The reviews that complained about the character development of the woman being light must not have gotten that the story was about 2 partners that basically tell their sides of the same story. There are several very clever lines and very funny situations. Very nicely done.

Really enjoyed this book

I enjoyed the writing style and the characters of this tale. It takes you to another time in the history of our country and the people who lived in it. Keep in mind that in todays world where many are so easily offended with views don’t agree with theirs that this is a book of fiction and written to entertain which it does.

off the beaten path

A completely different storyline, which turned out to be very interesting. Recommend it. very visual depictions of life in the wilds of Alaska.

Surprised

I downloaded this book Ana whim and fell in love with the story. The characters are believable and the narrator is incredible

wow

I thought at first this was an end with a whimper wild country story like Hiemo Korth, but is not. Woe to all that enter here.

Surprisingly Great Story

I enjoyed this story of a homesteader in the last frontier. A “man’s man” with the love of his life, Josie. Although at times I wanted to applaud Josie following her heart, I did not care for aspects of her character, who seemed to have some issues with low self esteem. The author over simplified Josie and did not develop her character as thoroughly as other characters which signaled a book written by a man whose ideal woman follows the man’s lead and has few complicated thoughts of her own. If you can overlook this you will enjoy the overall story and the Alaska wilderness descriptions that took me away, causing me to pine for the wilderness.

story solid but had some confusing parts. narration great. I would recommend for those who like flying or Alaska
