Acerca de esta escucha

The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Clive Cussler and Jack du Brul's Skeleton Coast, the debut title in the ever-popular Oregon Files novels. Read by the award-winning narrator Scott Brick.

1896: Four Englishmen flee for their lives across the merciless Kalahari Desert, carrying a stolen fortune in raw diamonds, and hunted by a fierce African tribe. The thieves manage to reach the waiting HMS Rove - only to die with their pursuers in a vicious storm that buries them all under tons of sand...

The present day: Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the covert combat ship Oregon have barely escaped a mission on the Congo River when they intercept a mayday from a defenceless boat under fire off the African coast. Cabrillo takes action, saving the beautiful Sloane Macintyre - who's looking for a long-submerged ship that may hold a fortune in diamonds. But what surprises Cabrillo is her story about a crazy fisherman who claims to have been attacked in the same area on the open sea by giant metal snakes. What begins as a snake hunt leads Cabrillo on to the trail of a far more lethal quarry - a deranged militant and his followers who plan to unleash the devastating power of nature itself against all who oppose them. In his latest bestseller, Clive Cussler, the Grandmaster of Adventure, shows once again that when it comes to compelling action, he's the man to beat.

The crew of the Oregon out did themselves this time. Thanks Clive. Just makes you appreciate all those who do things for us without thanks.

Twisting and turning in the plot made this a riveting book.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I think the character is wonderful but pushing the limits of possibility in his own personal skills. This is superman and James bond together in a middle aged man.

What did you like best about this story?

The descriptions of the African political scene including black mail back stabbing and loyalty. I loved the concept of the crew and ship as an individual service to put right what no one else can do, unhampered by rules and regulations.

What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?

I found his attempt at the south African accent awful. It was a bit of Scottish, plus I don't know what. Listen to Blood diamond, it is a better attempt. Simple things are easy to change eg a 'V' in Afrikaans or dutch is pronounced as an 'F'. (Visser)

Did Skeleton Coast inspire you to do anything?

Wish that the chairman and his group would bring everyone together to help to wipe out the poachers in Africa. A bit like the manhunt series only with functional guns. Help save the Rhino.

Great hero at loose in africa and the atlantic
