Serafina has never had a reason to disobey her pa and venture beyond the grounds of Biltmore Estate. There's plenty to explore in her grand home, but she must take care to never be seen. Following her own harrowing escape, Serafina risks everything by joining forces with Braeden Vanderbilt, the young nephew of the Biltmore's owners. Braeden and Serafina must uncover the man in the black cloak's true identity before all of the children vanish one by one.

Serafina's hunt leads her into the very forest that she has been taught to fear. There she discovers a forgotten legacy of magic - one that is bound to her own identity. In order to save the children of Biltmore, Serafina must seek the answers that will unlock the puzzle of her past.

The kids and I really enjoyed listening to this book this summer. Everytime we got into the car we would listen together. Very well done.

Wonderful story & narrator

The author did a wonderful job of putting together the folk lore of the mountains, beauty & mystery of Vanderbilt mansion, its family & guests. Serafina is a wonderful character with all the curiosity & cleverness any child (or adult) will love reading about. Ive encouraged my grandchildren to read this book. Can hardly wait to go on another adventure with the wonderful Serafina. I hope the author finds inspiration to write many other Serafina adventures.

Fun vacation read

This is an engaging story of a charming girl and some mysterious events at the Biltmore Estate. Many of the plot twists are heavily foreshadowed, which makes the reveals less fun for me, but it makes sense as a children's book.

Very entertaining. I love the setting, Biltmore Estate. Attention to emotion really carries the story.

To be honest this kinda reminded me of one of my favorite books the forbidden library it’s beautiful with so much adventure and really brings you into the world of the book I also loved how they built up to the big reveal of who the enemy was it was awesome

Fun story and great audio

Loved the story! Kept me interested and excited throughout. I like to listen to books when I drive the 30-40 minutes to work and home. The performance was well done on the audio. The story was a nice historical fiction mixed with fantasy. Great for young adults to adult age. Might be a little scary at times for anyone too young. Would make a wonderful movie!

I loved it. very thrilling didn't know what was going to happen for a while. did not see the end comming. can't wait to hear more about serafina.
