A Jack Reacher short story published as an individual audiobook, now also available in the complete Jack Reacher short story collection, No Middle Name.

Ever wondered what early experiences shaped Reacher's explosive career as butt-kicker supreme, the one-man guided-missile battler for justice? Lee Child looks back on an incident in his hero Jack Reacher's teenage years as the younger son of a tough career US Marine, on a faraway military base in the Pacific.

Although the Jack Reacher novels can be listened to in any order, Second Son follows on from Worth Dying For.

Good to learn about Reachers childhood

I enjoyed this short story about Jack Reacher at the age of 13. It is credible and enetertaining.

Before you buy this book, however, check out whether it is bundled with "The Affair", because it seems to be for US buyers.

Good Short Story

I really enjoyed this short story of Jack Reacher at 13. It sets out how he came to be who he is today. Even at 13, he's smart, tough, logical and never misses a trick. Saves the day for his dad & brother. Kerry Shale's narration is great very masculine, just like you imagine Reacher to be.

Born to be Reacher

Interesting backgrounder to at least some of the influences that supposedly caused Reacher to be the kind of person he is. Ridiculously short for one credit though.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this to Jack reacher fans because it tells us about him as a young boy. It helps the reader to understand his character development.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was a nice satisfying ending.

Have you listened to any of Kerry Shale???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't mind his reading but I prefer Jeff Harding.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I was happy to listen to aboutm half an hour at a time.

A good short read.

I am one of Lee Child's greatest fans but this so-called 'book', that wasn't much more than one hour long was a great disappointment. Could Lee Child be losing it - or just cashing in on is fame and success?

What a rip-off
