The roads in and out of Paris are heavily guarded, but the dead have easy passage out of the city. Loved it!

What a cool twist on the Scarlet Pimpernel original story. The beginning took me a minute to sort out characters and the narrator was not naturally switching between accents very easily but once I got further into the book it all smoothed out. I loved that the anticipation of when everyone’s secrets would be revealed and the description of the clothing. I loved being able to know all their thoughts and the character development on Matteo. It’s got action, romance, a greater cause, some real historical grounding points, it was great.

Great story

What a really good story. It kept me interested. The narrator was great. She did a super job. A different perspective on the Scarlet Pimpernel and very enjoyable.

The Pimpernel was my favorite book in High School. This is a wonderful homage! Must read or listen!

I enjoyed this variation on the Scarlet pimpernel. the heroin was both feminine and courageous without being a tomboy, nor portrayed as a weakling. they were one or two points where I did pause the story to get distracted by other things, but when I did go back to resume I actually enjoyed what came later. clean romance. not gruesome descriptions of the French revolution.
