Historia
One Native Life is a look back down the road Richard Wagamese has traveled - from childhood abuse to adult alcoholism - in reclaiming his identity. It's about what he has learned as a human being, a man, and an Ojibway in his 52 years on Earth. Whether he's writing about playing baseball, running away with the circus, making bannock, or attending a sacred bundle ceremony, these are stories told in a healing spirit. Through them, Wagamese reveals to listeners how to appreciate life for the journey it is.

Something as ordinary as hanging clothes on a clothesline becomes an act of devotion if we pay attention to what we are doing and take time to attend to the sights, smells, and sounds around us. Making eye contact with the cashier at the grocery store becomes a moment of true human connection.

What does spirituality mean to you? Can your spirituality help depression? How does spirituality affect your health? Are spirituality and religion the same? When does someone's spirituality become toxic? Which spirituality is right for me? Where is it exactly that money and spirituality mix? Why is spirituality important? These are all good questions, and our creator—the source, the all—has heard our questions. This book, if you can listen and hear what it is truly saying, will answer all of your questions. I'm so excited for this journey we all must take back home. Where's home?

Very Very Nice
What made the experience of listening to Say What? the most enjoyable?
I liked the combination of the author's poems and the narrator's voice.
What did you like best about this story?
This is a selection of poetry by a newly published poet and I thought her voice and the humor and philosophy expressed were well-put.
Which scene was your favorite?
I thought the title poem, Say What, was well chosen. I also liked having to listen a bit longer to get to that poem.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Several of the poems were moving. I cannot choose one.
Any additional comments?
A nice effort on the part of the author, and kudos to the narrator as well.
