Acerca de esta escucha
Linda Harrison is a prominent oncologist who tries to leave behind a childhood of rape, torture, and time in a mental institution. Her past causes her to fear men, but she longs for a loving relationship. She travels to Germany on a medical sabbatical, where, after twenty-two years, she meets the two people responsible for her dark past; her estranged parents. Linda is relieved when she discovers that the people who paid a man to murder her for her life insurance were not her biological parents. Returning home, she finds her friend murdered in her New York City apartment and millions of dollars of cocaine with mobster ties stashed in a secret compartment.
Fearing for her life, she turns the drugs over to the mob boss, thinking they belong to him. Later she discovers that the mob boss is her real grandfather, and the drugs belonged to another mobster. A gunfight ensues between the two families. Longing to belong, Linda puts her medical license in jeopardy by performing illegal surgeries for her mob family. During her second surgery, the patient dies and the authorities charge her with manslaughter. Linda makes a deal with the feds and testifies against her family, at which time she goes into protective custody. Her mobster grandfather tries to have her killed before she can testify against him at trial. Author Edmantha Hall has written an intriguing psychological thriller that will leave listeners wanting more.
