Acerca de esta escucha

Can my straight friend help me cash in my v-card by my birthday?

In one month, I turn thirty-five with my virginity still intact. Is there anything more embarrassing than knowing most of my French students have gotten more action than me? Je suis triste.

When I accidentally reveal this secret to my close friend and co-worker Seamus, South Rock's baseball coach, he offers to help me round the bases. It has to be a joke, because Seamus is one million percent straight.

There's no way he'd want to fool around with a chubby language nerd like me, even though I've harbored a secret crush on him since the day he first walked into the teachers' lounge.

But then I realize he's not joking.

I'm either entering thirty-five with a bang . . . or a friendship going up in flames.

Contains mature themes.

Three down and one to go!!

All books in the South Rock High series are amazing. Best thing is that characters from Browerton University pop in from time to time. Love it.

Great continuation of two series

All the characters from the previous books in the series surround the MCs in this one with love, support, and humor. The MCs were delightfully distinct from each other. I do wish the narrator had made their voices more distinct; in fact, his Staten Island accent for Seamus came and went even more than the character’s did as written (when he was around family or particularly emphatic). The same voice actor has been used throughout this series, and although I like everything else about him, distinguishing characters through voice is not one of them. It’s odd to me that these dual-POV books don’t use two narrators, but that brings its own weirdness when each narrator’s voice for his character’s partner sounds completely different — like, don’t they work together to try to make their voices for each other’s counterparts more in sync? Anyway, I’ve really enjoyed this series, had previously I enjoyed the Browerton University series, and was happy to see the lovers from one of those books in this book. Overall I enjoyed this story and audiobook and would recommend it.

Since when was high school so funny?

Julian, the Southrock High French teacher, has a crush on Seamus, the Spanish teacher, and base ball coach, across the hall. They run into each other outside of school after Julian just finished a date from hell. While taking Julian for drinks to cheer him up, Julian confesses his darkest secret. He is a virgin. Seamus, a straight man, offers to de-flower him before his 35th birthday in a month. Why is Seamus willing to do this? What secrets does the coach have? (It’s more than just the obvious).

A.J. Truman’s books are cute, fluffy, unrealistic, and really enjoyable. This book made me laugh more than any other book. Seamus lives with friends, the same age as him, who pretend to be his Dads. They, along with Julian’s sassy grandmother, are a hoot!

Iggy’s such a good actor that his voice for Seamus didn’t sound like Iggy. The book is written in first person and his voices for the two MCs are so distinct. There is no confusion on who is talking. I loved Seamus’s New York accent, though Iggy was not consistent with it.

update: I have become obsessed with this series (except book 1 which made me uncomfortable). This book has become a comfort book I re-listen to.

There is a scene where Seamus starts to undress Julian and Julian freaks out and runs into the bathroom. Seamus coaxes him out and hugs him and says all these sweet things to him. His words and sincerity are so touching. The scene is meaningful to me.

Great addition

Love this series. This is a Great addition to this series. I have enjoyed meeting each of these teachers and them discovering Love. A. J. Truman did a great job with the writing. Iggy Toma as always brings this story and all of the characters to life. He's definitely one of my top go to narrators for MM romance. Each book in this series could probably standalone but, get them all and enjoy this great group if men.

More Humor!

Second favorite story in this series! Seamus and Julian are a great couple. I love how these characters developed and cheered for their triumphs. A.J. Truman does it again! Iggy Toma, one of my favorites, does comedic narration so well, I was totally caught up in this story. Well done!😃

Sweet and Sultry

This story. It’s such a sweet tale of two friends turned lovers and the journey of the characters along the way is so beautifully relatable. I couldn’t put it down and found myself rooting for the special moments and sharing in the heartache. I’m so glad to see representation of the bigger fellas in male-male romances, this book captured it beautifully and I hope the author continues to write more inclusive pieces like this one.

Great audio

Iggy Toma made a not great book a lot better on audio. He has a way of making well written books better in audio format.

Another great addition to the south rock high teacher series. This time, we see how Julian learns to accept himself and be happy with how he looks and hope to lose his v card. So he asks the help of his bi curious friend and fellow teacher Seamus. Seamus needs to learn to move on from past poor life choices because he has changed and does all he can to move forward.
As with all AJ truman stories, he writes real, true romance stories that connect with the audience and are genuine. Particularly loved the found family aspect of this ever growing group of teachers and the love and support they show one another to be their true selves.
It's definitely worth a read.
