Acerca de esta escucha

Robert Plant by Paul Rees is the definitive biography of Led Zeppelin's legendary frontman. As lead singer for one of the biggest and most influential rock bands of all time-whose song "Stairway to Heaven" has been played more times on American radio than any other track-Robert Plant defined what it means to be a rock god.

Over the course of his 20-year career, British music journalist and editor Paul Rees has interviewed such greats as Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Bono, and AC/DC. Rees now offers a full portrait of Robert Plant for the first time, exploring the forces that shaped him, the ravaging highs and lows of the Zeppelin years - including his relationship with Jimmy Page and John Bonham - and his life as a solo artist today.

Robert Plant: A Life is the never-before-told story of a gifted, complicated music icon who changed the face of rock 'n' roll.

Some errors & fluff

For a nine hour duration, about half of the story is directly related to Plant and the majority of that is related to his music. While there is some insight to his character and personal life, those details are scarce. The majority of the book is a retelling of Zeppelin's history, which can be better attained elsewhere.

That being said, Plant's later years are given some creedance and may offer some fresh insight to those who are out of touch with his myriad of post Zeppelin accomplishments.

There are also a few factual errors that you would think would have been corrected before the audio production of the book. With these in mind, one would stand to be distracted by wondering what else was overlooked or misrepresented.

Robert Plant's - A Life - (An incredible journey)

A wonderful audiobook about Robert Plant - the 9 hour.26 minute length was actually an advantage as I was traveling in a car for 13 hours recently - made the trip much easier.

The story is not just about Plant - it weaves the story around all people and events around Plant's incredible life and love for music. The story ends with Robert saying "the best is yet to come!"

Brilliant

Good background on Plant

Much has been written about Led Zeppelin and the band members. I've read most of the books, some good some not so good. I think this gave a good overview of Robert. I think I finally understand why he has avoided reunion tours...
Overall I think it was a good read and I would recommend to any Zeppelin fan if they want to understand a little more about Robert Plant and what makes him tick.

Smear job

Just okay. The author denigrates the band, their music, and Plant himself. This is not a reverent look at a fascinating life and a great musical achievement. Interesting tidbits are revealed, but for Zeppelin fans, there really isn't anything new here, especially if you've followed the band for any length of time. The narrator has a thick British accent and sometimes difficult to follow. Lastly, he slags the album "Presence" which for many is a high water mark of Led Zeppelin.
