In their quest, the boys find themselves drifting downriver on a homemade raft, biking down old railroad beds, hiking hills, exploring hidden and forbidden hollows, and attempting to locate key old-timers who can help them put this puzzle together.
Add to the mix a fog shrouded river island, a hermit of a mountain man, a knowledgeable but mysterious retired investigative reporter.... It becomes clear there is no honor among thieves!
Suspense prevails throughout the story as they move closer and closer to their target, and in the end, it could cost them much more than just a couple weeks of their summer vacation.
