Jaise maan leejiye, adhyaay mein Ëœagniâ„¢ se sambandhit sookt das hain, kintu ve ek kram mein na hokar alag-alag bikhre hain, to hamne un sabko ek jagah karke sankshep mein prastut kiya hai.
Rigved vigyaankaand ka granth hai. Rigved shabd do shabdon ke milne se bana hai-'rik' aur 'ved'. Rik shabd sanskrit kee 'rich' dhaatu se bana hai. Rich dhaatu ka arth hai-stuti. Stuti ka arth hain-gun aur gunee ka varnan aur gun tatha gunee ka varnan-vishleshan-pratipaadan hee vigyaan ka vishay hai; isliye Rigved ko vigyaanakaand ka granth maana jaata hai. Vigyaan mein gyaan, karm, upaasana sabhee vidyamaan rahte hai. Atah Rigved ke mantron mein bhee ye teenon hai. Rigved mein das hajaar paanch sau navaasee mantra hain jo ki das sau atthaees sookton ke roop mein prakat kiye gaye hain. Sookt ka arth hain-sundar kathan-su+ukt= sookt. Sookt mein kaee mantar hote hain jinmein koee baat sundarata se kahee gayee hotee hai, isliye aise mantar-samooh ko jismein koee varnan sundarta se kiya gaya ho, sookt kaha jaata hai.
