The founders knew that a government is only as good as the people who maintained it. If we cherish our Constitution and work to uphold our rights, we will be able to live up to the ideals that the framers had intended. But if the electorate grows complacent and we begin to lose sight of the principles of the Constitution, we may unfortunately find both our rights and our quality of life will consequently be diminished.
The Constitution is indeed, the “people’s” document. It has seen us through several serious situations, including one Civil War, two World Wars, a Cold War, the Civil Rights Movement, the War on Terrorism, impeachment hearings, and much more.... Whenever the nation feels unhinged, unbalanced, and headed in the wrong direction, the Constitution is the compass that we can use in order to make sure we stay on track. And 2020 in particular has proven to be a year where this constitutional guidance is needed more than ever before.
From the constitutional authority of lockdowns, face mask mandates, and vaccination requirements during the Covid-19 pandemic, to the civil liberties of American protesters in the streets - to what it even means to be an American citizen in the first place - the Constitution is our tried and trusted guide.
