Acerca de esta escucha
Who among us wouldn’t want to be more patient, more kind, more accepting, more just, more selfless, more loving, and more connected to the world?
It seems like we spend our entire lives searching for the secrets of living a better life - flipping through self-help books, watching inspirational television shows. But powerful life lessons are often found in places we never think to look. And one of those rich and rewarding places: Asia’s powerful religious traditions.
As Professor Constance Kassor reveals in the 10 illuminating lectures of Religious Lessons from Asia to the World, the incredibly complex and diverse faith systems of Tibet, China, India, and other Asian countries offer believers and nonbelievers alike a number of important teachings and ideas that can help us become better people - and live happier, more fulfilling lives. Designed as a fascinating sampler of ideas from different traditions, Professor Kassor invites you to learn from Buddhism’s four sublime states, which recognize that no one wants to suffer; the Bhagavad Gita’s emphasis on dharma, or duty; the Daoist concept of wu-wei, or going with the flow; and more.
Emotional insights and breakthroughs from Asia’s greatest thinkers and spiritual texts. All yours - no appointments necessary.

Solid freebie on mostly Asian religions
These free Great Courses are pretty good overall. I’ve enjoyed them. I’ve listened to many actual Great Courses over the past 20+ years and these free ones are good introductions, which for many people are enough, but if you want more on that topic or one of its tangents, then they have more on it!

The best introduction to eastern philosophy
I enjoyed this book very much. The author weaves her personal stories and the gist about the historical understanding of eastern philosophy to tell us the importance of how one realize the meaning of life from such a unique perspective. There’s nothing that I don’t like alit this book. Thank you so much.

fabulous overview
The lecturer's delivery is wonderfully simple and accessible while still providing the nuts and bolts of these concepts. The lectures are a good length to remain interesting and still provide the information necessary. Her modern day examples are very helpful in conceptualizing such beautifully complex and simple ideologies.

Fun, uplifting, and inspiring lectures!
I loved these lectures! I hope Constance Kassor does more of these, like a lot of more. Topics were focused. Great storytelling. Intellectually satisfying. Emotionally moving. One of my favorite series!

skip the first lecture
A pretty good and easily understandable series of lectures. I almost chucked it during the first lecture, however. The one sentence, tacked-on assurance at the end that "Btw this doesn't mean to ignore real harms or to excuse them" did not convince me that that was NOT *exactly* what they were getting at by saying to bear any and all adversity with patience and grace and to ignore anger that might inspire you to improve a situation if you cannot immediately see a way to solve a problem.
I found it really enraging, the way we were told to just stay calm and somehow miraculously maybe the side that is actively working to invalidate, harm and kill others will see that the side they are so much against are people too.
