Acerca de esta escucha
Join one of the world’s leading psychologists in exploring the scientific basis for sustaining great relationships.
You couldn’t ask for a better professor. Prof. DeWall and coauthor, David Myers, publish the world’s best-selling psychology textbooks, reaching millions worldwide. Combining captivating case studies, cutting-edge scientific research, and practical advice, Prof. DeWall gives you the knowledge and tools to be successful in love and relational life. He will help you understand not only why humans desire close relationships but also why some close relationships flourish while others fail. The course will bust relationship myths ("never have an argument") and replace them with practical advice guided by scientific evidence ("use strategies to argue effectively").
First, you will learn about how humans evolved to have a fundamental motivation for positive and lasting relationships. The second section emphasizes the hidden benefits of close relationships. You will learn how relationships literally get under the skin - affecting your hormones, brain functioning, immune system, and gene expression.
The third and final section explores the recent and growing phenomenon of online relationships. Prof. DeWall winds down by addressing the power of social networks in shaping your health and behavior.
The lessons you’ll take away from this course are precious. Learn how you can begin building more connected relationships, companies, and societies today.
This course is part of the Learn25 collection.

Brilliant!
This lecture series is fascinating, research-based and highly useful. It's clear why DeWall is one of the most published pyschology professors in the world. He knows his stuff. But more than information, he uses clear examples and engaging stories to explain why people behave the way they do and how to build and sustain meaningful relationships. You will thank yourself for taking the time to enjoy this series. I can't wait to listen to DeWall's next Learn25 course.

Fascinating and helpful
Nathan DeWall is a master teacher. Clearly a leading social pyschologist, he shares deep insights into human nature, emotions and communication. He is especially expert on and passionate about close relationships, and what makes them work or not. You will enjoy this information packed, well organized and engaging course. I think there is something special about having material like this presented by the expert himself or herself rather than by a narrator.

Fascinating Course
I think most people would agree relationships are one of the most important aspects of life. And yet, it's so difficult to find real, substantive advice on how to create a strong social network or healthy intimate relationship. DeWall's course is a breath of fresh air in this regard, as he cites extensive scientific literature that explains how humans can better relate with one another. Highly recommend this one - it may surprise you.

A Great Course to Simplify Relationships
I am 25 and I have been in several relationships. However, none of them lasted more than 2 years. Also, my relationship with my family and friends is not perfect. I have many insecurities and fears when it comes to romantic relationships.
This course made me understand myself. I’m a scientific person who believes in evolution. The beginning of the course made me realize how deep this course is. It is not a usual course about relationships; it is deeper than this. Nathan explained very complicated psychological facts and linked it with our relationships. The examples were fascinating along with the studies. There is a study about hugs in chapter 8 that made me cry.
I learned many lessons from this course. I will try to re-build my relationships, especially with my family, based on the information and practices I learned from this course. I took many notes and I will try to apply them. I may listen to Nathan again if I needed to refresh my mind.
Regarding romantic relationships and my previous experiences, I can say that I found answers and closures to many questions. I can now work on myself and improve in a way that makes me qualified enough for long-term relationships.
Thank you, Nathan!

I really Connected with this book (get it :)
Happiness is often said to be an internal process.
We should be happy on our own. While that’s important, it’s also important to note that interpersonal relationships and connections are just as important. People are social animals, we shouldn’t forget that.
In this book, the connections are examined as being almost as important as warmth and shelter. A hug can be just as important as a warm meal. Very fascinating stuff, worth a listen.

Interesting psychology and sociology
The first thing I really liked is that the author-narrator is actually a psychology professor. There are lots of books out there with relationship advice, but in this case it comes from an expert who really knows from his own learning and research what motivates people. The studies quoted are fascinating, with my favorite being the one that highlights the incredible power of hugs. The narrator doesn't read in the most interesting voice, but he speaks kindly and with passion for his subject. Glad I got this one.
