Pulls you in!

I was not expecting how much I would love this! I got a free review copy and have not read the first three books. I was pleasantly surprised that I fell in love with the characters immediately and didn't feel like I was completely lost. The characters and their stories are compelling and I love that we see the POV from multiple characters (even the "villains").

As for the narrator, she has a pleasant voice, and did a good job. I gave her 4/5 stars because I envision Ivy (who the story revolves around) as a strong character and the narrator gives her this breathy, weak voice. I think it's her version of a younger woman's voice, but it was enough to not get the full 5 stars.

Intriguing read

The story was a great continuation of this series. Full of adventure, suspense, romance, betrayal and sacrifice. I'm absolutely in love with this series! I can't get enough of it! I want to stay in the world of our characters who I've grown to love

Things are getting complicated

This book is a lot slower than the previous book but it is still very good. Ardan is someone I am starting to root for more and more. I want to know more about him. Why he does what he does and how he is changing or allowing more of who he truly is out. He is a very complicated character and yet he is growing. I love these characters but some of them are making terrible choices and betraying people they shouldn't. Ivy has to step up and figure out how to reclaim what is rightly hers or risk the lives of everyone she has ever cared for and let someone truly terrible rule on her thrown. Time to see if Ivy has what it takes and can save those she truly loves. And will she figure out who those people are? Don't want to say too much for fear of giving things away but this is so good and I am eagerly waiting for the next book.

Okay, fine, I’ll write more than that. Because, truly, Bekah’s fourth entry in the IRON CROWN FAERIE TALES series is worth all the good words I can say!

A lot of authors stumble through managing large casts of characters, but Bekah does a spectacular job of giving us just enough of each of them to keep us invested in their stories and wellbeing.

Y’all, I started this series convinced there was no way I’d feel anything but loathing and disgust for some of these characters, and nothing but earn adoration for others, and in four books, Bekah has manage to subvert and completely flip those expectations.

The last book, GAME OF SHADOWS, was the beginning of the second act in this story, and this book rounded out that middle section so very nicely. This book almost felt like a conclusion to the series, save for the final chapter, when Bekah introduces a new voice (albeit a familiar character, just one whose head we’ve never been inside) to the narrative.

This book really focuses on Ivy’s conflicted emotions about her life as the heir of winter, how she will go about reclaiming what’s hers from her evil aunt, Alena, and how she will continue finding agency in a world where it has all been stripped from her.

There’s a frustrating amount of injustice facing Ivy in these books, and what I love about her is that she is growing in her power and learning how to take control of her own destiny and beat back that injustice.

The surprising thing is that, throughout the course of that struggle, some of the things that were forced upon her in the beginning become things she has come to rely on in her forward momentum through the story.

I can’t say much without spoiling, but suffice it to say that Ivy’s path takes some unexpected turns on the road to the inevitable in this book, and while Bekah laid some excellent hints in the previous book about what would happen in this one, she crafted a very entertaining adventure on the way to achieving that end.

Cannot wait to move on to the final two books in this awesome series!

Wonderful

Bekah Harris did it again! Wow! My favorite thing about this book was watching ivy train and learn to control her magic. The writing it’s so effortless and beautifully done. The flow of the story seems to just come together with no pauses or time to lose interest. I love all of the characters and watching how they have grown throughout the series, as well as new characters who have been added. I really enjoyed the Romance of this fourth book as well as the family ties and mother daughter relationship. The side plots were new and exciting and held my interest. I can’t wait for the fifth book and would absolutely recommend the series. I received this audiobook for free, but chose to leave this review on my own.
