Gestrandet in einer fremden Welt jenseits der Zeit...
Der namenlose Junge kann seine Freundin Morrow zwar aus den Fängen der Mickies befreien, doch Verderben und Zerstörung folgen ihnen auf dem Fuße.
Morrow stellt fest, dass sie nicht aus dieser Welt stammt. Sie erinnert sich nur bruchstückhaft an das, was vorher war, und auch der Junge ist ihr auch keine große Hilfe dabei.

Sie erfährt, wie die Mickies vor vielen Jahren gemeinsam mit den Farmern gegen den Wald kämpften - und verloren. Erneut geraten Morrow und der Junge in Gefahr und verstecken sich an einem rätselhaften und gefährlichen Ort.
Mickies-Boss Napoleon steigt hinab in die Kanalisation unter der Stadt, wo er dem König der Ratten begegnet und einen teuflischen Handel eingeht.
In unserer Welt am Ende der 1890er Jahre versucht der verrückte Massenmörder H. H. Holmes verzweifelt, dem Wissenschaftler Nikola Tesla, der Biologin Jeannette Baret und der Okkultistin Helena Blavatsky das Geheimnis der Kreation zu entreißen.
