Voice was amazing and story was written in a style which matches the myth of Ramayana.

Wonderful story at night

Interesting and inspiring to listen to over and over. Helps me get to sleep and back to sleep.

Pretty good version

I loved it but some if it has been given the PG13 treatment. Kumbakharna doesn't eat anybody when he wakes, and the way that Indra tricks him is stupid and wrong. Originally K asked for annihilation of all devas but the Hindi for it sounds a lot like 'sleep' which is way cooler than what they bungle in this version. Reader was good.

A lot of fun for an important classic

This was a fun reading to listen to. The story is so wonderful and the characters are so important in Hindu religous life. What makes this reading fun is the quirky voice of Ram Das, and also just hearing Ram Das conjures up images of a kind of flipped out, off the grid lifestyle that I couldn't entirely separate that from the text itself. I ended up liking that, so if you want that kind of Hindu/American psychadelic juxtaposition, its a good listen for you.

A classic for good reason

Like every great tale, one is not sure in the early goings whether the author intends to wrap things up to one's own satisfaction. Over the course of the story (this version at least) I found myself increasingly satisfied with the narrator's follow-through.

Really captures your attention and opens your heart

This audiobook was my first encounter with the Ramayana and I’m glad it was. Buck’s translation and Ram Dass’s narration both suit the story really well and draw the reader in. I highly recommend listening!

Yogic Wisdom in story form

In this reading of the Ramayana, Ram Das does a superb job of voicing the characters, and giving life to such an epic story of the very heart of Yogic philosophy and wisdom.
