Liked enough to get book #2
The puffer fish/voodoo/zombie thing is old but this book has some redeeming qualities. I enjoy that the main characters have flaws and emotional baggage. The chemistry between the two main detectives was slow to build but that made their final connection worth the wait. I wish the plot had more twists and that there could have been more humor, but what was absolutely stellar was Natalie Ross' narration. Excellent. Moving on to #2.

Great story
The story was good it kept me engaged. The characters were interesting but I was confused by the ending. Good book if you like a bit of mystery with magic.

Intriguing Mystery

I bought this audiobook as one of Audible's daily deals, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The story was intriguing, with bits of voodoo and zombies thrown in for good measure. I enjoyed the characters and enjoyed seeing that they weren't perfect. This was my first book by this author, and I will definitely read more of her works.

Keep this going!
I purchased this book for a long car ride...I have a VERY difficult time driving long periods and quickly become fatigued; however with this book, I had no problems getting sleepy! I love Natalie Ross's narration and the storyline was fantastic. I have started the second book and it has gotten me through several long runs. This is one of the best audiobooks I have listened to! Holds up for an older story
Someone is terrorizing the city of Savannah, leaving real life zombies all around the city poisoned to appear dead.
Detective Elise Danbury is familiar with Savannah's dark side. This case is bringing forth her own mysterious past as she speaks to someone connected to her rumored infamous witch doctor.
The local gullah culture of voodoo is one that very few people can understand especially outsiders like her new partner.
