Der Sternkreuzer Proxima hat Zuflucht im randständigen Onyx-System gefunden. Doch es ist nur noch eine Frage der Zeit, bis aus dem instabilen Frieden der Nachkriegszeit ein neuer Brandherd entsteht. Denn die von den ehemaligen Kolonialen übernommene Regierung auf Terra stellt immer stärkere Allmachtsansprüche. Auch im Outback der besiedelten Galaxis nimmt die Bedrohung zu... und militärisch haben die Gegner der Neuen Republik kaum Chancen.
