What You’ll Learn
This course includes Lessons 11-15 from the German Level 1 program featuring 2.5 hours of language instruction. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons is included in each lesson. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension, and on learning to speak German.

Enjoyable and effective method for learning German

Pimsleur German is a very effective and enjoyable method for learning German. I am using it side by side with Rosetta Stone, which is a very different and very visual method, also very good, especially for learning vocabulary, syntax and learning to read the language. I use the Pimsleur audio lessons with Google Translate, to look up many of the words to make sure I am hearing what I think I heard and see the spelling. I also keep Notepad open to take notes. Pimsleur could use some accompanying documentation, but that being said, it is extremely valuable. Pimsleur lets you hear and participate in normal conversations which is important for learning useful conversation skills. I believe it helps with getting a more natural accent as well. I used Pimsleur Croatian previously and am now a fan of their method, even with its shortcomings, for which there are viable work arounds.
