Fascinating, terrifying, and unexplained...these paranormal phenomena will leave you mystified.
It is no wonder that we are all drawn to the world of the paranormal. The need to research and delve deeper into the unexplained is a tendency which unites and joins humanity as a culture. This has always been the case, from the earliest ghost stories to tales of dragons and sea monsters. Since the turn of the 20th century, modern technology and science have pushed back the boundaries of explanation and shed new light on old secrets.
Nevertheless, this does not mean that everything in our world is easily explained. Instead, the new abundance of information simply pushes the barriers of the unknown even further back. While we might be able to explain one instance of paranormal phenomena, two more spring up in its place. Like the heads of the Hydra, every new discovery and explanation simply prompts a fresh wave of paranormal phenomena opening up new fascinations and new mysteries. Inside learn the details about these fascinating unexplained phenomena:
- The mothman
- The doppelgangers
- The Taos hum
- The chupacabra
- The Miracle of the Sun
- Time slip
- Human combustion
- Alien encounters

Discover some of the most captivating mysteries of all time. Humanity has come so far and explored so much. As a species, we have more, or less conquered the entire Earth and all of its resources. We have built towering structures, intricate systems, and settled everywhere - from the tallest peaks to the deepest valleys. We have now entered what many like to think of as the enlightened, scientific era - where old superstitions and fears have been abolished, and the mysteries of the past have been solved. Basically, many of us like to think we have figured it all out.

Historia
Flying Saucer to the Center of Your Mind is a collection of magazine articles and lectures by the man many consider to be not only the 20th century’s premiere investigator of all things unusual and “Fortean,” but also our very own 20th-century “Mark Twain”: John A. Keel. Many of the articles in this anthology and its companion volumes, "The Outer Limits of the Twilight Zone" and "Searching for the String," were revolutionary, and explored ideas popularized in Keel’s classic books.

Historia
When this work was first published in 1970, it shredded the then-trendy nuts-and-bolts extraterrestrial hypothesis for UFOs in favor of one that linked UFOs to a variety of paranormal and supernatural phenomena that have taken place throughout history. Keel was one of the first to note that the UFO phenomenon appears in different disguises - and that one could not begin to decipher this great mystery without first taking into account its many and varied deliberate deceptions.

Historia
In The Extratempestrial Model, Dr. Michael P. Masters posits that UFOs and "aliens" are our future human descendants, coming back through time to visit and study their own hominin evolutionary past. As a professor of anthropology, Masters uses an abductive approach to logically infer the best explanation. He examines well-documented abductee experiences in the context of this time travel model, and considers other theories put forth to elucidate this complex and mysterious phenomenon.

Historia
Are significant numbers of humanity the product of an ancient and advanced alien civilization? Have we, across the millennia, been periodically modified and refined as a species? In short, has our genetic make-up been manipulated by otherworldly beings that view human civilization as one big lab experiment? These are controversial and thought-provoking questions. They are also questions that demand answers, answers that may very well be found by examining those people whose blood type is Rh negative.

Historia
Of the many books on UFOs and aliens, this one may be unique. Richard Dolan, one of the world’s leading historians of the UFO subject, has analyzed the different alien types and agendas based on longstanding patterns observed by witnesses. This is both a careful review of the best evidence we have of human-alien interaction, as well as a bold speculation of just who the aliens are and what they want. Dolan’s analysis starts with our ancient prehistory and potential genetic modifications and monitoring by extraterrestrials.

It's the dead of night; you are fast asleep. Suddenly, you are wide awake but unable to move. Hunched over you in the shadows is an eight- or nine-foot-tall gaunt entity with spider-thin limbs, dressed in an old-style black suit, its pale face missing eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. You finally manage to cry out. The monstrous thing disappears as suddenly as it appeared. You just had a terrifying encounter with the Slenderman. Who - or what - is the Slenderman? His existence began on the Internet, but he didn't stay online.

Is there a single intelligent force behind all religious, occult, and UFO phenomena? Strange manifestations have haunted humans since prehistoric times. Beams of light, voices from the heavens, the "little people", gods and devils, ghosts and monsters, and UFOs have all had a prominent place in our history and legends. In this dark work, John Keel explores these phenomena, and in doing so reveals the shocking truth about our present position and future destiny in the cosmic scheme of things.

In the early days of photography, in the death-strewn wake of the Civil War, one man seized America's imagination. A "spirit photographer", William Mumler took portrait photographs that featured the ghostly presence of a lost loved one alongside the living subject. Mumler was a sensation. Peter Manseau brilliantly captures a nation wracked with grief and hungry for proof of the existence of ghosts and for contact with their dead husbands and sons. It took a circus-like trial of Mumler on fraud charges to expose a fault line of doubt and manipulation.

In Patient Zero, Richard A. McKay presents a carefully documented and sensitively written account of the life of Gaetan Dugas, a gay man whose skin cancer diagnosis in 1980 took on very different meanings as the HIV/AIDS epidemic developed - and who received widespread posthumous infamy when he was incorrectly identified as patient zero of the North American outbreak.

Dozens of theories have attempted to resolve the mystery of the identity of Jack the Ripper, the world's most famous serial killer. Ripperologist Robert House contends that we may have known the answer all along. The head of Scotland Yard's Criminal Investigation Department at the time of the murders thought Aaron Kozminski was guilty, but he lacked the legal proof to convict him. By exploring Kozminski's life, Robert House here builds a strong circumstantial case against him.

An Interesting Short Book about the Unexplained
This was a great little book about some unexplained phenomena. More explanations that a typical short book make this a treat for fans of the unusual. I listened to the audio book version as well. The narrator was wonderful. A short entertaining read and listen.

I mean the narration was good but...
It was a waste of a great voice on an otherwise awful waste of my time. However, since audible is so good at taking books back if you don't love them I don't have much to complain about....:)
HOWEVER... for someone who doesn't already know much about the topics discussed within the book it is indeed a good listen.
I just should have realized that I have already looked into the topics to the point where there was really nothing left for me to learn.
Good book for beginners! So I added some stars.
