Acerca de esta escucha

Multiple dead teenagers, in a town demanding answers, drives Rachel Ryder into an undercover case that is unlike any she’s faced before.

Standing over the body of a teenage boy on the lawn of a wealthy family, Rachel has no idea that three more will shortly follow. However, as the young bodies pile up, Rachel is called on to go undercover.

Deputized as a Drug Enforcement agent and tasked to work hand-in-hand with the Hamby PD, she becomes a counselor at the local high school. When what seems like a basic sting operation ends in a shootout, Rachel must dig through layers of secrets and betrayal to protect not only the youth in her new community, but the lives of those she loves.

USA Today best-selling author Carolyn Ridder Aspenson delivers an exciting third installment to the riveting Rachel Ryder series.

Rachel Ryder in her best case yet!

This episode of the Rachael Ryder series casts our hardboiled detective in a whole new light. Rachel and her partner become a part of a DEA taskforce looking into school drug overdoses. While I have enjoyed the previous stories in this series, Overkill kept me fully engaged and reading late into the night to see what came next, not to mention who the pusher was. Anne Marie Damman’s narration takes what is an engaging story and kicks it up several notches. Once I started listening, it was extremely easy to put off everything on my to-do-list and just listen to this story. This is a must read/listen if you are a fan of this series, and if you aren’t familiar with this series, this would be a nice introduction to Rachel, however it’s best to read or listen to the previous books to get the background on Rachel Ryder. Thanks to Severn River Publishing for providing me with an audiobook review copy of Overkill.

Best Book in the Seies So Far

Great read. Detective Ryder is tough but shows the softer side as she deals with a tough case involving teens and drugs. Loved the under cover storyline.

Unresearched

I’m a teacher so I know what school employees do. There’s no way the min character could go undercover as a counselor and do no work but instead solve crimes. The beginning of the school year is so busy for everyone…counselors in particular. So this is as unreal as it gets.

There’s not a whole lot of newness in this female detective genre. This character is the female masculine type. She isn’t in touch with her feelings, is quick to anger and has no fashion sense.

A southern. Belle is needed to feminize her. The belle apparently leads a completely satisfying life as a wife and mother with nothing to do. Has anyone in this generation read The feminine Mystique? These women were not satisfied with their lives.

It’s sexist to always present women who do mens jobs as men with long hair who can’t be feminine without the help of the stereotype of a woman who lives only for superficial beauty. Women are more complex than that.
