Most people find talking easier to do than writing. So, the best way to overcome writer’s block is to imagine you are sitting with a good friend or loved one, someone you can talk to and trust not to scoff at your thoughts. Imagine yourself having a conversation with them, one in which you do most of the talking. Explain what you want to say to them. Don’t try to make the writing perfect, just write down the words you say without stopping to correct typos. What you end up with is a rough draft of your piece that you can now work on and polish into shape. Try it – it really does work. Some of the great novelists of our time used this method, and so can you.
Writer’s Block, the painful condition of having to complete a complex writing task, but being unable to get started and/or finish the job. Not to worry, help is at hand. With the right approach, almost any writing task can be managed. Overcoming Writer’s Block is a practical guide for anyone wishing to learn some practical strategies to deal with this all-too-common problem.
