Those that engage in the literary journey of the novel Out of Control and the series The Forgotten Ones will gain a comprehensive understanding of the progression of the disease of alcoholism and addiction. The confusion, chaos, and possible crises that family members often experience in relation to a loved one's addiction are revealed.
As an experienced therapist and teacher, author Kate Lion has intentionally crafted a narrative that is a compelling fiction with embedded psycho-educational material. The listener will discover many resources that inspire personal growth. Mindfulness meditation is just one of those. Healthy behavioral and thinking patterns that can be changed or adapted to facilitate independence and life path empowerment are introduced. A variety of supports that are readily available in communities that will help family members to cope and even thrive when a loved one is caught in the throes of addiction are revealed. Lion boldly presents the risks posed by opioid medication and leaves the listener wondering how these prescription medications have become so prevalently prescribed.
