Acerca de esta escucha

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, Daemon's facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way Katy can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don't seem entirely crazy, but the group's goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

...if I'm not enjoying the story as much because of the female narrator or if it's just not that great. So I've given it 3.5stars rounded up. I like the story enough to continue.

Narrators:
Rob Shaprio - 4stars
Justine Eyre - 2.5 stars- Her voice is just too scratchy to listen to for long. She sounds way too old to be playing a teenager.

I can't tell...

In order to appreciate this novel you have to start at the beginning. In Origin, the DoD takes the stage front and center. I will not say more about this; but what is outstanding is the way Armentrout continues to widen the the plot. In the first novel, you get lulled into thinking this is a trite YA romance about aliens, and by this book she has widened the scope and brought many serious issues to bear. She masterfully brings up relevant issues that affect us in society today. If you look beyond her story for her message, I think you'll be impressed with the questions she raises and her opinions she has offered so far.

In this book, Eyre reads from Kat's POV and Shapiro from for Daemons's. This narration is especially potent in the audio book, I am not sure it would be as good if you were reading it. The author's ability to use dialog to move the story forward is excellent as is her character development. I highly recommend the book and I can't wait for the final outcome. If the last four books are any indication, it should be a hit. I hope so, because book three of Divergent and Hunger Games were such a disappointment. That said, on to book 5.

The Series Gets Richer and Ricer in intrigue

Love the split narration. The story... everything. Obsessed. In the beginning of the series it felt a little like another twilight... but now I can't think of anything these two series has in common. Simply amazing amazing, could listen to it in one setting.

in love with the blacks

You never know when the end of one book is coming or the new one is about to start. All action & romance - all the time. I'm getting through these books way too fast. Impressed with female narrator.

On the edge of my seat...

Gah. This series is so freaking awesome. I first read Origin back in 2013. I listened to it back in 2016, I had gotten it through the library. Now I just finished listening to it again. What an Amazing story!!!

I liked this book and it is a good adition to the series, but there are a couple hang-ups in my opinion. First, the second narrator. I enjoyed having Demon’s point of view, and it was necessary, but Rob Shapiro didn’t differentiate his voices, especially with the female characters. Justine Eyre did such a good job with the male voices, and they should have stuck to her reading Demon’s Pov in the voice she used for him. A good example of this would be Kate Rud’s performance in Out of Breath, when her narrative was in the same voice she used for the male character.
Spoiler alert:
After Kat and Demon escape Area 51, and make it to vegas, then have to flee, the author makes a research error. Having had lived in Las Vegas all my life it wasn’t hard for me to miss, and actually greatly detracted from what happened afterward. The group is fleeing Las Vegas for Arizona, and there is opposition by means of a pile up on the interstate nearby the strip, so they start a war on the strip by revealing themselves to the public for a distraction. I just want to point out that I15 leads to either California or Utah. To go to Arizona, they’d need to take U.S 95, which wouldn’t put them in the path of the Vegas strip. . It’s minor, but it bugged me.

Good adition to the story with minor complications

I loved this book because we finally get to hear what is going on in Daemon’s head with the dual POV. This book can be hard to read/listen to because of what happens to Katy and Daemon at the hands of Daedalus. There is betrayal from friends. There is a lot of heart breaking death. The ending is a huge cliffhanger too.

We finally hear Deamon's POV

That is the best word I can use to describe this chapter in the Lux series. It is definitely taking a dangerous and different route from some other books of the same genre - and I like it
