I was a little disappointed. The story wasn't as great as the majority of are other books. I had to push hard to get through it.

Only The Clonely

This was the sweetest book ever. I love how this book worked with a prior storyline. I enjoyed every moment of this Novella. This book doesn't disappoint.

the Male narrators fmc voice was a a bit off for me.

it was a b8t like hearing piglet talk dirty. he did a good job with the male voices.

Enjoyed the new series start

I really struggled with the male voice actor doing the woman's voice. The story was good.

the story was fine but the male narrator's voice was way too mature and his reading of the female lines was SO cringy I was barely able to finish listening to the book.

Easy Read

I love Ruby. I’ve read all her books. This is yet another great book. I won’t do any spoilers, I will tell ya this one is a little creepy, a little different, a little cloney.

Clones

The story was good, but not Great like the majority of the other books. Also the male narrator was Not good for this book at all. Which made it very hard to listen to.

a new start

I love this story movie this is great it's got I love how you got the aunties working on the wrist of planet how it shows that they do have feelings too and that they can fall in love with humans and humans can fall in love them but yet they still want to help the humans on risk the three I love that I can't wait to see what's going to go happen and how great the cantina is going to go I hope you write more about this I love these stories I love how they intertwine with each other you are awesome thank you

Narration was tough for me

I am a Ruby Dixon fan girl, I consume everything she writes and wait anxiously for the next. BUT I struggled with listening to this one. I think if I read it, it would have been better. The male doing a female voice and vice versa with some audiobooks is ok, I had a hard time with finishing it in audio form. Maybe too because Ruthie is not a character I enjoyed much? I’d suggest reading this one if voices are a point of emphasis for you.

Rough Narration Rough Start to Series

I am working my way through the Rubyverse Reading list and this clocks in at number 42 in the order currently (December 2024). I love the ever expanding world and cast Ruby has created and of course in long running series that are trying to explore all different combinations not everyone will be a winner for everybody and this one was a miss for me. Definitely not the worst in the series but I will say the male narration was rough. This was my first time listening to Todd McLaren and I peaked at some of the other audios he's on to hear samples of his voice and he's actually good but was either given direction to talk very robotic I am assuming in order to indicate he's a clone in this and it just didn't work for me. It was missing lots of the emotion and inflection to bring the story to life instead of feeling like Alexa or Siri are reading me directions. Overall there was also just a very sophomoric feel to the characters who have to rush into bathrooms to masturbate because they literally have no ability to not while the other person waits outside listening to them. And we fall into the toxic obsessive bonding with one another where it feels like unhealthy teens in a way that is less sexy fantasy and more like woof kiddos do they have space therapy. I feel like there is the trauma issues related to being trafficked which is totally understandable but then we are getting these trends regarding clones and the character quirks that are getting interesting. What can be programmed? How much is autonomy? How much is related to being a cheap/poorly made clone? The narration was already pulling me out of the series and the adolescent manner of our main characters meant this overall was not my cup of tea. But again this is but one stop is a much larger galaxy of Ruby Dixon's where there is plenty to enjoy.
