As an educator for more than 20 years, I'm a fan of teaching others. And there is no greater challenge than to learn a language. Learning Portuguese is such a challenge, but enriching on so many levels. It's not only an intellectual challenge, but imagine transforming your travel experiences, allowing you to connect with new and interesting people, or even live or study in places like Rio or Lisboa! In essence, it's a journey to become more open minded about the world, discovering amazing new people in the process.
Learning is not the obsessive command of structures and vocabulary, but the willingness to overcome our most basic fears and insecurities. Over the course of this book, I will convey enough knowledge of Portuguese so that you will be able to read, listen, and interact with people in this new language with the knowledge that will inspire confidence. In learning Portuguese, you will be facing five basic but important challenges: grammar, vocabulary, slang and colloquialism, pronunciation, and variations of the language. In this book, I will lay out the fundamentals of each of these stepping stones in an easy to understand method.

Save your money
I bought this for my husband and I to listen to on a 16 hour car trip. We turned it off very early on. Some of the phrases written were so bizarre, things your average person would NEVER say. Not sure if she was trying to be funny, hip or cool when she was writing this book but it was just ridiculous. We had hoped to pick up some common phrases like, "How much does this cost?" or "Where is the restroom?" or directional questions. This book had nothing like that. Don't waste your money, nothing to see here Folks.

Pointless without print book
If this were Whispersynced it would work, but there's just no point to listening to this except for needing something to put you to sleep; Just set your sleep timer, turn down the playback speed to 75%, switch off your lamp and you'll be sound asleep by the end of the long passage on diacritical marks.
